I don't pay a whole lot of attention to storms because I live in a brick house w/ a sub-level basement. Another thing is that I don't watch the news b/c it's just depressing and boring.
So I didn't know there was a storm until I went to Wal-Mart looking to get stuff for PB&J sandwiches and there was no bread. I asked one of the employees what was going on, to which he replies "Don't you know, there's a hurricane comin!?". I said, "Hmm, so I guess I'll have to make my sandwich out of the italian bread". The guy just looked at me as if I should have been running for water, milk, bread, and D-batteries.
I've got candles, homework, and 2 exams next week. All I need in between time is PB&J and something to wash it down with. :D

Baldwin County checking in here.......we're going to hang in, no where to go at this point. So all fellow X'ers along the Gulf Coast, take care and we'll see you on the other side. Heck, the weather is always great AFTER a hurricane.

I'm about 90 miles due north of Destin in Andalusia. Ivan roared through our city and knocked out power and a lot of trees. I had power back by 7 p.m. Thursday night so I'm a lot luckier than people on the coast. Ft. Walton, Pensacoloa and Gulf Shores got slammed really bad. I've been watching the news during the entire storm and I pray for all the Panhandle residents that were affected by the storm. I know a young woman and child were killed in Panama City when a tree fell on her trailer. I know the Pensacola I10 bridge was knocked out during the hurricane so anyone going to Thunder Beach from the west is going to have to go around Pensacola. I wonder if they have even opened I10 for traffic but they may have put up alternate routes around the bridge?

We finally got power back on this afternoon. I think, we're lucky! It's amazing how fast those power got it back on. I thought aleast 2 weeks or more, so a week was a welcome suprise. Hope everyone else in fine along the panhandle.
