No tricks. Just take your time. Start by either removing the speedometer (3 bottom screws) and carefully let it hang, or find where the wires plug in under the tank and unplug them (note: if you unplug the speedo wires your trip odometers will reset). Make sure you turn your fuel valve to OFF. then disconnect the 2 hoses that connect to the fuel valve. The larger hose will have some fuel in it so make sure you have a rag handy. Take off your seat. Remove the bolt that holds the back of the tank down. Lift the back of the tank up a little. If you look under the tank on the right rear side (as your sitting on the bike) you will see a little breather hose. pull that off (don't forget to reconnect when you put the tank back on.) Now just lift the rear of the tank and pull the tank towards the rear of the bike. should lift right off. WATCH OUT FOR THE HANDLEBARS WHEN DOING THIS (Don't want to ding the tank). Make sure you don't put too much pressure on the fuel valve when you set it down. Like I said, just take your time and you'll have no problems.
