:D Well we had a good turn out at Cassoday last month and a few here have expressed an intrest in going again in October. Let's see how many are many able to go and we will plan places to meet up along the way. The ride last month was a blast and it's nice to put faces to the handles here on the board. Met some really nice folks last month it would be nice to have even a larger group this time. Riding weather will be getting worse may be the last chance for a big group ride before the cold sets in so try and make it if you can. Please post here if you can come.

If the weather is good we plan on being there again. We went last month but left by 10:00 because of the impending weather. It did no good as we got soaked anyway. This time hopefully we can meet the group. Please let us know when and where.

Last month the group meet at the Cassoday gas station at 10:00am it is a good place not so many bikes there easy for us to find each other.

I may ride up earlier with my neighbor and or father-in-law on their Gold Wings but would meet you all anywhere for sure. It would be nice to see what others have done to their Xs. I have a few unique items I like to brag about. I mostly want to hear some exhausts before I make my decision.

cc,
I just talked this over with the wife. Here are my options:
1) come down alone, leaving very early and meeting you guys there, probably at the gas station. I might bring one of my kids.
2) Come down to Wichita Saturday evening and stay the evening alone or with one of my children (probably my son).
3) Make it a family getaway and bring the wife and daughter too.
No matter which one I do, I'll try and make it. McDonalds at 8:30 sounds good. How about meeting at the gas station again at around 10 AM? Then, perhaps off to Council Grove for lunch?
Weather permitting, this may be my last chance for the year.
And maybe some of the Topeka and KC boys can join.

I will be making the trip from Lawrence. I think green from Topeka is going to try to make it as well, as long as it isn't too cold. Hopefully the weather stays nice for a few more weekends, not ready to put the bike away yet! See you all there-

Well guys, the news just gets worse all the time. Week before last, I ordered a rear tire from Discount Motorcycle Tire for my ride. A shot tire was one of the reasons I missed the BFB run in KC. Well, when I called back last Monday to see about the order, I was told it was backordered and would be another week. A quick PM to Hal told me HDL had the same tire in stock, albiet at a higher price. So I cancelled the order from DM and placed one (on Wednesday) with HDL.
I called today to see about the tire. First I was told the tire had not shipped and it would ship from the NC warehouse today. I asked that this be confirmed. Then, I was informed that the tire was not in stock and they could not tell me when it would be. Now it has changed yet again and it is in stock and will ship TOMORROW. But, because of the weather, it may not arrive in time for the weekend trip.
Now, is it just me or is this screwed up.......royally!
Anyway, I may not make it afterall. Or if I do, it may be on a worn out tire.
We'll see.

C. C.,
The tire should get here by Friday, barring no further problems. However, if I remove the wheel and then it doesn't come in, I probably will not remount it and make the trip. So we'll see.

I'll be there! I should be able to shrug off the cold with full leathers. My dad is planning on going, if he doesn't, one of my friends are always willing to take the bike off his hands for the day.
I live in Topeka, who all wants to meet? Could also meet with KC/Lawrence guys at the 56 & 75 hwy junction, (near Scranton)

Rear tire got here yesterday and I removed the old one last night. Today the wife is dropping them off in Great Bend to have it installed and I expect I'll pick it up late today and install it tonight.
Sooooooooooooooo, baring frost or otherwise bad weather, I should be there. My plan is to ride down AM and meet you guys there. Are we still gathering at the gas station around 10 AM to 10:30 AM?
Also, are we hitting Council Grove for lunch afterwards?
Let me know.

We are still planning on being there if we don't turn into popcicles on the way. My son will be riding his Harley but we won't hold that against him!! We are looking forward to meeting everyone as we didn't stop last month. Does everyone plan on riding on into Cassoday as a group later on???

We have to be back in Abilene by 2 PM for a company function. We usually go back via Council Grove but with the time constraints we may have to go back the quickest route. Hopefully we can at least meet every one this trip.

realmccoys,
Too bad you won't be able to take the "twisties" from Council Grove to Junction City. That has become my favorite part of the Cassoday Run. I then take Old 40 (thru Abilene) to Wilson.
Maybe we can hook up another time.

BTW, it won't be chilly. It'll be downright COLD!

Scarecrow,
I would like that if we have time. If not we will do it another time. How do you get to Cassoday??
Did we possibly meet at the Topeka Honda Shop when we were looking at the Orange VTX one Saturday morning? We met a couple on the way to a wedding in Lawrence that told us about the Procycle shop in Missouri. Would that have been you ?? We ended up buying the Candy Orange bike in Topeka. They matched the procycle price.
Hope to see you Sunday.

Guys,
My apologies for not making the ride. But I just couldn't see three hours that early in the morning at those temps. I guess I'm just a woose, but at my age, I'm getting p[icky about my rides.
I did take a ride with my daughter Sunday afternoon and the weather then was fine(and the rear tire works great).
Soooooooo, perhaps another time.

:D Well you were sorely missed my friend, but I do understand. We were a little late getting to the station ( 15 min. ) It turned out to be a good day for a ride though it started out pretty cool. A few I believe went on to Council Grove afterwards. Judy and I took the long way home through the flint hills. Hope to ride with soon. CC
