Hey you Tennessee X-er's:

Your poor cousin from Arkansas is planning a short trip to the Smokies the middle of next month. I have to take my SUV but I'm considering trailering the X to try and get in some ride time in the mountains.

For any of you guys that have ridden up there, do you have any suggestions on the best roads to run?

Thanks!!!

Tim

Don't bring your bike.
If you do you will be misrable the rest of the winter.
There are no wrong turns in the Smoky Mountians.

This place is new and made just for bikers...

Cheif,
Here is the usual ride my freinds and I go on ...

We leave knoxville and run south I-140 to Hwy 129 (Alcoa Hwy).
We take 129, down through maryville, and pop over onto 321.
Go down 321 till you get to the Foorhills pkwy. Follow it to 129 and take a LEFT on 129 to go through the dragon. We head down towards Robinsville ( be sure to gas up at the Dragon gas station, as there is only one more before you the on the cherehola) and then turn onto 68 and ride the cherhola. (remember it gets cold up here, so have a sweatshirt or something). Stay on 68 till it gets to 411 and ride back up to maryville.

this is usually an all day ride for us, one of my friends w/ a Ducati makes morning trips out of it sometimes, but he tends to be able to go alot faster than the rest of us ( my 1300c and a volusia )

More routes can be found on tailofthedragon.com

That is the exact ride we are doing tomorrow (9/25). It is an awesome ride. You get twisty's, high elevation views, with minimal traffic!
