Just curious. I'm from Marietta. Both I and the wife have VTX's. Mine is an 04 1800R Spec 2 Pearl Blue and the wife's 05 1300R Candy Red. Both pretty much stock except for some cosmetic improvements.

Hi,
I am in Adairsville (Just north of Cartersville). I am usually game for a ride, we usually ride with guys from work(Ameristeel). Very diverse group including Harleys. Let's see if we can get some rides together. Recent trips were:
Little River Canyon (Alabama)
John's Mountain
Fort Mountain
Only prob is I work 4on 4off so I am out of the loop on weekends half the time which also frees up great weekday ride time.

That'd be cool. When we ride with others, it's usually different makes and models also, no prejudice here. The weekends are the only time that we have though.
BTW where's John's Mountain, never heard of it.

Went to Little River Caynon Sun.I have been up through Helen a couple of times, over Fort Mountain all good rides.Another good ride is 136 from Dawsonville to I75 if you want to go that far,or hit old 41 and come back that way.I have an 04 Retro, red, sampson street sweepers, that is about the only mod I have made so far.I live out by Six Flags and there is alot of good riding out this way also.

Yep...John's mountain and "the pocket" are one of my favorites. I'm ALWAYS up that way. Excellent riding. PM me if anyone ever wants to ride up that way. Doesn't take much to convince me to go up there.
I have not been to Cheeah yet, last people that I talked to said they put alot of gravel on the road and made hard to ride.I heard it was trying to slow the crotch rockets down.Ihave also heard that it is a very good ride and alot of nice curves.

The ride to Cloudland Canyon State Park is nice. From there you can go up Lookout Mountain Parkway and watch the people jump off of the mountain hangliding on the way to Chatanooga. Suches is tops on my list so far but need more time to go there.

Frog,
I was in Cheeha a few weeks ago. Not too much gravel that I noticed, but the road down the backside that's so twisty is just plain out and out dangerous. It's REAL tight, narrow with no shoulders and needs repaved BADLY. I don't know what it is with eastern AL. roads, but most of the good ones are falling apart. Case in point...Little River Canyon. That road out to be considered a 4x4 road as there's grass growing up through the pavement. Cheeha's not far behind it.
If anyone wants to ride the Northwest corner (John's Mtn & Cloudland)...let me know. I'm pretty familiar with the area and always love to go back.

The missus and I really enjoy our rides. She has a Rootbeer and creme Vulcan Drifter and I have a 1300R.
I am riding out to the North GA folk festival near Athens tomorrow, but her ride is up at the cabin at Carter's Lake.
We love riding that area so much we bought the place!
She rode with southern cruisers poker run and took home a Benjamin!
I was in Dallas, helping solve the JFK murder (long story), so I missed last weekend.
Would love to ride with a group of VTXer's anytime. Just drop me a line.

Just east of Atlanta but still inside the perimeter.
2003 Black 1800R that I've spent way too much money accessorizing!!
Think I've just about got it like I want it. Now I need tires!

Yup, thats right. However, once ole Dr Dan (Dr. Dans Mobile Motorcycle Service 404-226-9801) pulled the old tire off, we noticed that about 40% of the outer surface was worn down to two plys. Holy Guacamole!
Gulp!..never noticed that when checking out a visual inspection, or checking tire pressure. Down side of those fancy rear fenders, I guess.
Lesson learned, roll tires, inspect, roll again.

Good thing you weren't running a Metzler at the time...being that they are only single ply sidewalls! JMHO.

Tucker, Ga. I ride mostly solo in the NE part of the state around Cleveland and Suches, but also some south of Lawrenceville. Weekends are my riding time usually but lately they've been taken by the "must do" list. We're going to be moving to S Fl next June and trying to get the house ready to sell.

Cairo,Ga here... ( way down in the SW corner) . We ride year 'round all over SW Ga and NW Fl...down the panhandle coast. Lots of nice ,curvy, shady roads that run through plantations and woods and farms. And the best thing is ...very little traffic !

I am in Greensboro....but spend most of my time in Athens. I was just up in Helen last weekend and though did not intend to came home with a new jacket from the shop up there. That was the first time I had been in this particular bike shop and I was impressed. As soon as the off-season comes I will ride more than to and from work. Would enjoy hitting the road with anyone this Spring.

I live on Lake Jackson. Ride alot around there and to my work in Clayton Co. I have a 03, 1800 Retro and my wife rides with me a lot. Be safe and enjoy life!!!
I live on the Mt. got my vtx1800 2 1/2 months ago, 4000 miles later I love it. Rode a V65 M for ten years before I screwed up and blew the engine in '93. I raced for 3 years in western NY before moving down here in late '85. 1/8 mile best time 6.9 sec at 105 mph. I had 2 V65's,
one was factory set up the other standard production model.
I bought the '02 black vtx1800 used with 19000 miles on it.
It need tuned right and set up better, now that I've taken care of that part
of the bike I can say I'm very pleased with the results.
Top end of 130mph' 2up at 110mph, avg mpg at 37 to 41.

It should be easy for some of us to get together for a good ride. My wife and I plan on attending the honda hoot next time around so what ya say we make it a VTX group from our neck of the woods :-)
Woodstock, Georgia here. Do most of my rides during the week, especially like heading up to the North GA mountains. Will do an occasional scoot on the weekend (wife works every weekend so I play Mr. Mom).
Won't make the hoot, that is usualy the same time as the Smoke Out in S.C. and a bunch of my friends and myself go to that.I ride my home built bike and meet up with about 40 or so more old Honda Chopper riders up there. We can still hook up and go for a ride, lot of nice roads up your way.

I'm another one from Lawrenceville, GA. Just got back into riding after taking 23 yrs off. I was afraid of buying too small to I said "what the heck.....let's go for an 1800 Retro. Just got it two weeks ago and I'm still learning to ride....but....it's coming back!
Love the bike but it was too quiet. Last night I did the Riley exhaust mod. SO MUCH BETTER! Now I'm looking for bags and mounting hardware. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hey ya'll,
Sorry I am late posting but I have been busy battling cancer. I am from Iron City, GA. It's a small town of VERY few. (I mean it, like 300 folks here) I am in the extreme SW corner of Georgia.
I hope to be back in the forums for awhile. I will be having surgery again on the 24 of this month and it'll probably take me about a month to recoup. I get withdrawls from riding by reading posts, so I may just breeze thru.
Oh yeah, I got my first baby on the way. She is expected around the 11th of March and supposed to be a girl!
Lance
Congrats on the new addition and hope the surgery will help.Children are one of God's greatest gifts, charrish the time you have with them, they grow up so fast.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
I'm in Carrollton,near Alabama
