Hello all, If any of ya'll are looking for a great run and have not visited this place yet, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this museum in Maggie Valley, NC. This place was featured in Honda's Red Rider magazine a couple of months ago. I got up this morning and after the fog lifted (mine and the weather's) threw some warm layering clothes in the ol' bag and headed west to NC. After an easy 2 1/2 hour ride from Cleveland TN on 64/74/19 East I found this museum (on Highway 19 in Maggie Valley) and boy was I impressed! It is the finest display of American bikes and cars (and one airplane) I have ever seen....it is a MUST VISIT PLACE if you like motorcycles! The Curator, Dale Walksler, is a great guy...he cranked a couple of vintage 1910-1920 Excelisor(?) motorcycles and even rode one around the grounds...sounded like brand new as well as the 1929 Duesenburg that he also started and drove. He will answer any questions you may have. This guy is a motorhead. He has HD military bike with a BMW(?) style engine, Indian 4 cyl inlines as well as Indian military bikes with Moto Guzzie style engines, HD roto tillers, Indian M/C powered snow mobiles, HD powered chainsaws as well as the finest selection of road/offroad/racing (all US) motorcycles I have ever seen. :D :D :D . 90% of his stuff RUNS. The leaves are turning and it is a great time to ride so check this place out if you already have not visited....you will not be disappointed! And on another note...if you go to Maggie Valley, eat at "Butts on the Creek" BBQ before going home...IMHO it was good! Ride safe, Bisleyblackhawk
