View Full Version : pipes
THANKS to all of you offering advise on how to post a pic...but no luck yet... ..maybe later on that.. But I would like to get some feedback on aftermarket pipes. Will be some time..maybe spring,,before I get a set, however, am looking into it. So far what's out is COBRA and SUPER TRAP. Both decided from the advise of the local Honda Dealer. Says the finish in the Trap is bad and Cobra doesnt sound that great on the 1800. I checked into BUBS and found some good reviews and some bad, so will have to do some more investigating there as the verdict is still out. Guess it comes down to VANCE-HINES (Bigshot), JARDINE (which I have heard on the 1300 and sound great) or HARD KHROME to research. My question this time around is..."WHAT PIPES DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR THE VTX1800 RETRO????"
Thanks..VTXRSteve

I have the Hard Krome 3" Big Shots on my 1300c. They are loud and look good. It just really depends on your tastes. I like loud and proud pipes, others don't. But they are my recommendation. I got them through Crusiercustomizing.com.

I've got "modified" stock and they are far from quiet. And the price is right lol. You might want to do what I did until you plop down the bucks for the after market stuff later. Just a thought.

I have the Hard Krome 3" Big Straights on my 1300R, my son has the 2.5" Classic Straights on his 1300C. Both sound very good to me. Have heard a few 1800's with Hk's, they all sounded good. Did the Clayton mod on mine first, just not enough noise for me. Dave
A BIG THANKS to all of you who replied so quickly to my post...will take all those replys into consideration. Ride Safe/Ride Easy!

I run the cobra hi-boys on my C model. I like them about as much as any I have heard. Nice low deep tone and not super loud. If you are ever up the Ft Scott way I will meet ya somewhere so you can hear them.
