hey lineman, do you work on distibution or transmission lines? I used to work for a private company that installed underground distibution lines. Still have my electrical company doing small jobs. What size vtx are you purchasing? I have a 1300 retro orange w/a few extras. Great bikes!!
Maybe us Alabama X'rs can get up a ride, or meet somewhere and swamp war stories.!!lol

I usually just go directly to the 1300 tech board too but will try to start checking this forum more in the future. As a matter of fact I have been away from the boards for a few weeks. Got my 1300c in June and have 9k miles on it so far.

Yo, bro, I'm just across the state line in Rome, GA...have ridden more than a couple of times with D-Mac, Bamafan12 and a few others who haven't posted yet. I've had my '02 1800 Silver C model since April of '02 and have 40,000 miles on her. Since everyone else has, my family consists of my best friend and wife, Becky and twin 22 year old sons (one who just got commissioned in the Air Force and the other who's @ the Univ. of GA in Veterinary Medicine Graduate School). Hey Fellas, My name is Kyle and I'm in Enterprise. I'm an Army Aviator who chooses to spend his money on toys rather than essential things like, ohhhh for example....food. I just picked up a VTX1300C (black) yesterday and can't wait to get on the road.

Is anyone close to Mobile? I'm way down at the southwest corner of the state and it seems that most of the AL riders are in the middle or northern part of the state. A few of us here on the coast formed a "Gulf Coast X Riders" Chapter that allows us coast riders to meet up.

Hey Jeff-
Congrats to you for your boys getting out...well one anyway of school :D The other one will just make that much more money when he becomes a vet and will be able to take care of Pappy!

Good luck to your son in the Air Force. Is he going to fly? I've got one in high school right now who wants to fly, one in the Marines, and one at LSU. We'll talk soon. I've got to go pick-up a trailer in Eatonton, GA in a few of weeks. Maybe we can hook-up then.

I live in Haleyville, AL. I am a convert from sportbike land. I have ridden over 30,000 miles on a Hayabusa. I bought my 1800R about 4 weeks ago and have already logged over 1500 miles. I ride with about 7 to 10 people each weekend (mostly on Sunday). We go to Pickwick Dam and 29 Dreams in Birmingham , and all over the south. If any of you Alabamians want to ride with us. Give me a call on my cell at 205-471-6064. I work in and out of X-Ray areas so my cell may not ring. Just leave your number and name and I will call you when I get the message. We will meet up with anyone anywhere to have fun riding.

Thanks, Mel, no, Brad is not going to be a pilot type, he's more set for the administrative side; in fact, his first assignment (for 2 years) is to begin on Nov. 29th when he is to report to the Pentagon where he'll be working in the A.F. Space Planning office (they're preparing the Personnel budget for the A.F. portion of the Space Program through the year 2011. Pretty neat first assignment! I'm with you on his brother (Brandon) eventually needing to take care of old POGO and Mrs. P, but I haven't yet got him "conditioned" into that mode of thinking...I'm still working on it!! :D
How's the Mrs. doing on her 1300, is she still grinning from ear to ear? You guys take care. Give me a call.

Hey Terry here aka RetroBlues from Hoover, suburb of Birmingham. I stepped up from a VStar 650 to the VTX 1800R this summer when Honda was having the 2003 clearance sell. Wow what a ride. Just having to start over on the accessories now. So far I have only been allowed to buy a windshield, engine guard, and passenger floorboards. I have a Corbin Dual Touring seat on order. Eventually will be adding Bettle Bags and a Hoppe Fairing - all in Illusion Blue for now. Some day down the road I would like to have a custom paint job.

About me - 41 yrs old, married for 17 yrs, 2 kids in middle school. Work from home as an IT Project Manager. Member of Birmingham SCRC Chapter 65.

I read the VTXOA board frequently just to see what others are doing with their X's and learning more technical tips for use somewhere down the road.

See ya out on the road sometime.

Can we schedule a meet up for Bama X riders?

We'd better hurry though b/c it's getting cold fast.

Sounds like a plan to me. I wish we had decent weather this weekend for riding. Doesn't look like I'm going to have a chance to get on the roads for a few days.

We need to find a central location for everyone. I guess either Montgomery or Birmingham would be the most logical choice unless there is a large majority in a certain reigon of the state. Either way I'm down for a road trip.

Thoughts?

Well, clearly no one is interested in a group ride as indicated by the abundance of enthusiastic responses.

Some of us are interested. Maybe after 4 or 5 of us ride the others might want to hang out.

I'm in Andalusia and it would be great for everyone to get together for a ride. I'm a newspaper publisher, 46, married with one child. I've been riding since I was 12. Bought my first Honda 75 with money earned from a newspaper route and mowing yards on the Air Force base, since my dad was in the Air Force. I've had a CB175, CB350, CB750, HD Sportster, Kawasaki 900, Honda V650 and finally the ultimate bike - 1800 VTX Retro.

I went to the Peanut Festival SCRC Rally in Dothan, which helped St. Jude. Man, what an awesome sight to see that many bikes cruising on the road. I agree that we need a central point like Montgomery to hook up and ride. Y'all let me know.
