If it was not this weekend(our club is having our annual toy run for the foster kids in our area), I would definitely be there along with a bunch of my ex- Army, Navy , and Marine buddies that ride. WE SUPPORT OUR TROOPS 100% !

Just wanted to up date everyone on the ride. The weather was a little iffy but we did not get rained on,it was actually hot when we got there.About 1,000 bikes not counting all the people.Police and State Patrol had all the roads blocked so all we had to do was ride. The people in town were cheering, waveing, saluteing and waving flags as we went by.When we got back to the Civic Center they had all the troups lineing both sides of the street cheering us on.IT WAS AWSOME AND HEART WARMING,most were in basic training but when they get to AIT they will be in my old unit.Landing helichopters in the parking,Post Commander giving speeches it was a great ride. Most of the troups looked to be fresh out of high school and it is kinda scarey to know they may be giving there lives for this country very soon. Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers and there family's as well.

GOD BLESS FORT BENNING AND THE USA

Point of balance: not to come across as anti-American, but I believe the 'protest' that goes on there is NOT of opposition to our troops or our military. Those protests, which include nuns, members of the clergy and war wounded veterans as well, opposes the South American security forces that are trained there on how to train others to become paramilitary 'death squads', which kill and rape thousands of civilians annually in that 'part of America God keeps forgetting to bless'.

I salute you for your spontaneous demonstration of support for the troops. However, to call it a 'counter protest' indicates you support such use of taxpayer dollars to prop murderous puppet regimes of the WTO in South America. I am sure you are American enough to not support taxpayer trained murder or rape, nor stifling of dissension in our good democracy!

I too am a vet from Fort Benning, post Viet Nam.I understand what you are saying,if they would prostest the school only and leave our troups alone it would be different. When they try to block our troups from getting on base and make it so they can't leave the post alone, shouting at them and sometimes even spitting at them, that is where the problem is.Most of these troups are just like I was when I joined fresh out of high school. Most likely with in less than a year they will be putting there lives on the line for this country and they don't this kind of crap. This was not a spontaneous demonstration, this counter prostest has been going on for a couple of years now, and if you could only see the responce we got from the town, police, and most of all the troups it was heart warming to say the least.I have got no problem with the protest of the school but when it turns on our troups that is when I have a problem with it.Most all the vets.I know and ride with feel the same way,LEAVE OUR TROUPS OUT OF IT. Thanks for your responce and maybe we can meet up some time and take a ride and have a beer,or coffee what ever your poison may be.

agreed, Frog. Focus on the school and not on the troops. Anyone who spit on me was giving carte blanche to remove their spitter, slowly and painfully.

Dissing troops is not cool, no matter how you slice it. Question leadership and police? yeah, but not our kids!
