Well, I got the front fork spring tool. Looks like it's time to do the progressive spring change this weekend. I think I will also change the fork oil while I'm in there. I will post how it went.

When are you gonna do it? Sat.? Sun.? I'd also like to talk about the desmog. Is it worth doing before I get pipes in the spring?

Wilsondude, I'm thinking about doing it Saturday so may if the weather holds out I could test ride it Sunday. About the Desmog, really you could do it any time. Do you have the block out plates or are you just going to use plugs?

Whatever works for you will work for me, I'm sure, unless there's a good reason for the plates. Should knock down decel popping, correct? Any other benefits?

Springs are in and work great. Thanks to some local X-rider buddies the job went near flawless. It was indeed a good learning experience. Now that mine is done my special tool is available for anyone else who wants to change their springs. :D

Drywall, could you explain or give a website as to why we want to change our front springs? My bike seems to ride just fine.

Thanks

Have you ever hit a bump and felt a clunk in both direction, or hit a big bump and bottomed out, pulled on the front break and the front end seamed to nose dive a little to much. Well, mine did but it wasn't to extreme. But since I changed my springs it seems to ride a little smoother. I hardly feel the bumps and the nose dosen't dive anymore. I haven't tried the twisties but I,m sure I'll find an improvement there as well.

Which shocks did you install?

Front fork springs. Progressive makes a couple of different ones, VTX and Goldwing. I got the ones for the VTX, the Goldwings are a little bit longer, the ones for the VTX is a little bit small than the stock springs.

Next project is the Final Drive, I'm going to change the Final Drive gear ratio to a 1300. I hear you get better gas mileage and a little speed. Gears are in the mail, I'll post when the next Tech session is at my place.
