Hello my fellow Tenn. VTX riders. Is anyone planning to go to Marysville, Oh. in July next year to do the VTX ride? If your not sure of what I am talking about, there is a guy on the main VTX Board, LAMONSTER, that is trying to organize a world record setting VTX model ride to the Honda factory during the Honda Homecoming, July 28-30, 2005. He is trying to get at least 1000 VTX's to participate. Is anyone interested in going and being a part of this potential world record setting event? I thank that it would be impreeive if we had a big group to go and wear some type of Tn. VTX Patch. Let's talk it up.

I'm going if it falls in place. I've already told Lamonte that I'm in. Sounds like fun :D .

We could get a group together from TN/KY and ride in together. My wife and I are going up the 28th. Better get hotel reservations made if you are planning to go, Marysville is a small town.

OK, Fellow Tn. VTX owners I have made my reservation in Marysville, Oh. to attend the Honda Homecoming and be apart of the world record VTX ride. I am real serious about wanting to get a group up to go. I made reservations at the Holliday Executive Inn, on Allenby Dr.. I plan to go up on the 27th. According to Mapsource, it is a little over an 8 hr drive from here in Jackson. I'm ready hope someone else is. Just let me know.

I will most likely be heading up there from Knoxville on the 27th also. I will be heading up 75.
What route were you looking at taking Lawdog?
If there is anyone else heading from East TN we can try and get togather and make a run of it.

I am not sure. We pulled up directions on mapquest but I can't remember which way it gave me to go. It may have Had me going up 65 when I get to nashville. I know that we are going up on the 27th also. Since I'm not that familiar with Ohio Im not sure what would be the quickest or simplest route to take other than what mapquest gave me. Would like to ride up as a group, maybe b etween now and then we can get a group together and ride up together.

Well unfortunately I spent 4 months last winter working just south of Columbus, so I have been to the plant before just checking things out. If you can believe that there is a hill large enough, I went skiing a few mins north of the plant.
I agree that we can make plans out in the spring. I figure one group (if there is one ) can leave from the knoxville area and one from west TN and we can meet in Lexington. Then ride the last few hours togather into Ohio.
BTW Lawdog, I sent you a PM the other day. Didn't know if you saw it or not.

I just made reservations at the Holiday Inn Express in Marysville, OH for the Honda Homecoming July 28-30th.
Is anyone from Tennessee riding up or are most trailering? I haven't decided yet.

I’m hoping I can go in July, it’s all going to depend on whether I can get time off from the job I haven’t found yet.

OK you can count me in too.The wife is recovering from back surgery so we may have to trailer up to about Lexington. We'll know more about that closer to time. That would be the farthest we've rode in a day.You said Mapquest called it 8 hours, I'll bet that's running the speed limit with no stops, Probably more like 10 or 11 hours, don't you think?

I got approval from the missus to go. I live 2 miles off 75 at the Callahan Road exit. Let's get it organized and represent the Volunteer state!

Alright guys this sounds good. I'm excited about the ride. I hope that we can figure out a meeting place, so that those of us that are coming from west Tn. can meet the ones from east Tn.. We still have plenty of time to get this figured out. Happy New Year to everyone.

It looks to me like Lexington Ky. would be the place to meet up.I don't know if you considered this route or not but a Trucker freind of mine suggested taking 51 up to Purchase parkway, instead of 40.He said you miss all that construction, and bypass Nashville and the scenery is better. He said it would take less time on the Parkway and have less traffic.

Lexington sounds like the best place to meet up (middle and west TN meets east TN).
How 'bout them VOLS!

If I do get to go I may drive the truck up and trailer the bike, my uncle lives there and I'd probably stay a little longer and would need the luggage. I can get a trailer that may hold 3 or 4 bikes, just in case of rain or something.

I am not planning on trailering mine but if the need arises I have a 3 rail bike trailer and can borrow my brother's 12X8 covered trailer. Someone else will have to supply the vehicle for the covered one, my car can't handle the weight.

I just found out that I am heading that way this comming week. I have to do some work for the NRC in Ohio for a few months and there is a little skiing place just on the other side of Marysville.
Unfortunately this means that I am doing the unthinkable this weekend. I am parking the bike for the winter. I can only hope that on the weekends home (Every third one) it will be nice enough to ride. I have been spoiled this winter so far. I rode 3 days this week to work and loved every min of it.
Have a great winter and see you guys on the road in the spring.

It looks like the Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn and Amerihost are all close and I think the Walmart Parking Lot (staging area for the ride) is also close.
As the time getting closer, let's made plans to meet. Would be great to have a TENNESSEE section in the ride.

I totally agree. It would also be nice if we could all ride in, or as many as can , together. Does anyone know if there is a Tennessee VTX patch, because it sure would be neat if we had patches to wear during the event. I may be wrong, but from what I read I don't think that we are going to have any trouble setting the record.

Check out the Carolina X Riders patch on Carolina VTXRiders forum.Pretty cool and the price is cheap.I PM'd the guy making them and asked if he would be interested in making some for us.I tried to copy it from their forum and paste it on ours but no luck. Not too sharp on all this computer stuff yet.

Would it be possible to have Tiki 65's design made into a patch?

It would look great as a back patch or on a black teeshirt.

Looks good to me, but what would we put on the front? Also, does anyone know what became of the t-shirt contest, the one to design a t-shirt for all of us to wear on the record ride?

The shirt I envision has a large Tiki on the back (between the shoulder blades with a small Tiki (or Tennessee VTX Riders) on the left chest . Add some red/blue flames on the sleeves (long sleeve) of the black tee shirt. One nice shirt.
Dawg is selling the 1000 VTX ride shirts now...

I'll get one of those too.

Tiki65 has not replied to my PM. Does anyone know Tiki or how to ask him if we may use his design on a shirt?

Thanks phinzup,
I saw Tiki's post and I've emailed Dawg. We will need 25 shirts in the first order to have Dawg "screen" Tiki's design (which Dawg said was a good one).
I'll try to get prices from Dawg.
