Hey DrywallMan, what's your planned setup for this winter? We talked about it a couple of weeks ago, but I seem to have forgotten. Me and Kevin want to continue riding whenever possible, but we could be down for a couple of weeks at a time. I have two trickle chargers, but have heard that they are not great for my marine batteries, so I have stopped using them for that purpose. Will they work for a motorcycle battery? How long can the bike sit without being run?

Your trickle charger should work fine If it is 12 volt. I don't bother hooking up a charger unless I know it's going to be at least a month without riding. If you let your bike sit for a month this winter, then you are a puss and deserve at least a dead battery. Hey did get your new seat yet? I wanna see.

Still waiting on the seat to arrive. Jo'D said I can't open it to look at it until XMas morning. How fun is she? I did get the lowers on, and they are a nice addition. Was thinking about riding this morning . . . 14 degrees, what a fool I'd have been  All it would take is just a little ice! I know we'll get in some time in the future. How was Jason's game? Did you meet any new riding friends?

No seat 'til Chrismas? What a cruel, cruel woman. I'm taking my bike in to get painted this friday. Jason won his game. Hit five 3s. The drive back was an adventure. Didn't get to meet the good doc cj. Maybe next time.

Put my charger on the other day and plugged it in. It charged for a while and then shuts it self down when done. It kicks on by it self too so it's not going to hurt anything.
I don't see why your trickle chargers wouldn't work if they are for 12 volt and the trickle isn't more than a 2 amps or so. Does it shut off by it self? If not than I would probably do like kevin suggested charge it once a month.
As far as what's on the winter menu. I don't much like riding in ice, I tend to fall, and the salt that thrown on the roads is not to good for chrome and aluminum. So it would have to be dry for one and warm enough to wash the bike after the ride. IMHO

But there are always mods to be done :) . If you need help with anything give me a ring I'm always game for some wrenching fun :D .

Thanks for the help. I think the charger will work. Kevin and I ordered both clutch springs and progressives, so we'll be in touch. I'm also gonna get Cobra Fatties and Kury pegs later next month. Just a little bit at a time, ya know?!!
