Hi fellow VTX ers, asking for some info about the area. If my wife gets a new job in Providence, I will be looking for work there. About myself, I worked for a Honda Shop in Jacksonville FL for the past 4+ years. I know, why leave almost year round riding? Job. So I am wondering how many shops in the area? What kind of riding season you have? I don't know if and when she gets the job. Thought I would check with you to see what I might be up against. I've read some of your post, the pictures are great.
Thanks

there's shops around, mostly more than one brand and not sure if might be easy to get into one but jobs are tough here if you stick to one field. there's lots of jobs but maybe not what you're looking for. as for riding season depends on the person. alot put away thier bikes in oct or nov, i'm trying to ride every week or so thru-out, mostly cause no garage and don't want to use a storage place. sunday going on a ride with the Blue Knights and only supposed to be around 44-46 degrees, bit chilly. there is great riding in new england though i gotta admit that. riding in new hampshire is awsome though i've only done it twice. good luck in whatever happens.

Plenty of shops in the area. It's pretty densely populated in the Northeast.
I ride for about 8 months out of the year. Beginning of April - 'till the end of November. Getting ready to store it this weekend

Hello 'Mech,
Poison's pretty much on the money as far as the riding season up here. You just need to don a few extra layers in the early and late ends. But then, coming from Florida, you'll probably be wearing extra layers right up into June anyway!
There's a bunch of dealers in and around the state, and plenty of other shops. Most dealers are always looking for experienced, skilled mechanics. I'm a regular at one of the larger dealers in the state, Razee Motorcycle Center, and they're always crying that they don't have enough good help in the shop.
If you want a list of the dealers in the area, drop me an email and I'll be glad to send you some names and addresses.
Keep us posted if your plans take you up this way!

Wife's company sent her to Tampa FL. Shes happy, I was kinda looking forward to 4 seasons again. Use to live in Maine and Michigan, Navy.
Thanks for the info, enjoyed the pictures of your rides. Be safe.

BCCmech,
Good Luck to you. If you get up in this area give us a shout and we can go for a ride, I know all anyone has to do is mention a ride and Poison is ready to go.

Brother, it must have been a while since you rode up here in the North Country. I admit it's beautiful in the Spring, Summer and Fall. But for those 4 or 5 months when your "Baby" hibernates in the Garage, it's downright ugly. I don't know if there's anything we'd do, any of us, especially us older brothers, would,'t do to be able to "fire that mother up" and go for a nice comfortable ride, without leathers and face shields, etc. etc. etc. just to keep from getting frostbite. Come visit anytime you'd like, but for your own comfort, make June or later. See ya Later - J.M. 111

I move down here (from Warwick) and someone else moves up there...talk about balance. Figured I would check in on you RI folks. My mom works for Honda/Suzuki in Warwick, I can find out if they're looking for help if your moving to RI. About 15-20 min from Providence.
