Guys,
I recently found out our local club (Georgia Misfits) has in it's membership, a local couple who own and operate their own insurance agency. As my car insurance was up for renewal, I didn't figure it would hurt to check with them and see if they could save me any money. Low and behold, they saved me $600 a year between my two cars and $250 a year on the bike! AND to top it all off, I'm getting 4 times the coverage limits on the cars and double what I had on the VTX.
With the VTX, he's putting me with "Foremost" insurance company and I'm cancelling my old policy with BikeLinE (Markel American). He said that Formost was probably the best motorcycle policy out there as they automatically give you $3500 in accessory coverage AND their roadside assistance plan ($8 a year) has no pre-set limit on towing. So in other words, if you get stuck 50 miles from home, they'll bring you all the way home...not just 15 miles. Also, they give you $1500 in "Safety Equipment Coverage" such as helmets, leathers and such. On top of all this, he said they give LARGE renewal discounts, so the second year, you can expect your bill to go down. For me, it was already $250 cheaper per year than what I had been paying, so it's a win win in my book.
My insurance was $950 a year when I bought the bike a little over 2 years ago with Progressive.
I switched to BikeLinE and got down to $560 or so a few months later and dropped Progressive.
Jim just quoted me $326 per year with Formost (double the coverage).
Anyway, if you want to at least have them run your numbers and see if they can save you any money, give 'em a call. These folks ride and are members of our riding club, so as far as I'm concerned, they're good people:
Jim and Amelia Herring
The Herring Agency, Inc

1100 Hwy 92
Acworth, GA 30102
(770)-974-1605
And for those skeptics out there - no - I don't work for them nor am I getting any kickbacks whatsoever. I was just so dang impressed how much money Jim saved me today, I figured I'd pass this along. You can tell them you're friends of mine if you like, but I don't think I got any "special" deals beyond what they give to the general public. I'd at the very least, call them and ask them to run you a quote. Can't hurt.
