I don't know if you all heard or not, but Sheriff Matthew Samuels was shot and killed in the line of duty today. I work with his wife Tammy and have met with him on many occassions. He was a good man and a model Law Enforcement Officer. There is still alot of issues surrounding the shooting and to my knowledge the shooter has not been caught, but has been identified. Please say a word in your prayers for his family. Their son has cancer and this will be a very difficult time for them. Thank you.

Yeah, I heard about that today. I also heard that there was a big stink because Gov. Sebelius wouldn't authorize flying flags at half-staff to honor the man.
My father-in-law is a retired lawman and was sheriff in Mn county for a while. Sad to hear about the loss.

We prayed for the family last night at church. I had not heard about it until one of our church group requested a prayer for the family. Sad news, I know a lot of risks come with the job, but it's awful hard on those left behind.CC

Please pass on our condolences to his family. It's gonna be tough for all involved. That is a rough profession and none of the folks ever get enough gratitude...or pay.

My father was also a sheriff in Pratt co for 36 years....as a kid I remember going to Greenwood co to go hunting and fishing with Matt. The man always had a smile and not to mention some great hunting and fishing. I wish the family well and hope they find their way through this terrible tradgedy. As i mentioned, my dad was also a sheriff,and we always worried every day. Our prayers go out to the Samuels family.

Thanks again. They caught the shooter and had a nice funeral. I have not talked with tammy, but I know she has lots of support around her. Be safe....
