Anyone have a good idea for President's Day weekend? (19 - 20 Feb; 21st is Presidents Day) I was thinking maybe a ride on Sunday afternoon.
Ideas?

Chad, how about rendezvous the crew in Crestview, and then doing the 96 miles to the USS Alabama in Mobile. We could get there in about 20 minutes (X Power!) and just gather and goof. I have lived in Florida for years, driven by Her a hundred times, but never stopped to check out the museum. We could do a group lunch somewhere and then let folks blast off to do the museum or whatever in Mobile. I might have my significant other and girls cage over and do the museum with them, then come back to Marianna on Monday. Just the first thought that dropped in the noggin, but we might even be able to draw out some of the Lower Alabama/ Mobile riders for something like this.

Sounds great to me. Lets see how many others we can get on-board (no pun intended) for the trip. After I see what kind of response we have, I will post on the Alabama and Louisiana site to see how many folks we can get together. I think it would be a great ride.
Who else can go?...................

Sorry Guys, Can't make that long a ride on a Sunday. Saturday yes, but not Sunday.
This is a bit far off for me to plan on, but we will attempt to make it. If it is on a Saturday, that would be easier as the wife wouldn't have to skip church, but it can be done either way. I'll be watching.

I have a commitment on Sat the 19th (all day) but that doesn't mean we can't plan it for that day and everyone else go. Whatever is best for the group. Just let me know what is best and I will get with the lower Alabama groups and see if we could meet up with them.

I can really do any day from Friday through Monday ... I got a VERY long weekend (ahhh, those good ol' government jobs!) Just let me know what the consensus is and I will head west.

Sounds like the consensus is for a Sat. ride. (At least from those who have posted) Is this what everyone wants to do? Please let me know so I can get together with the other groups. Thanks. You can also e-mail me at show03vtx@cox.net

Sounds like fun. We can't commit as of yet. If we can't make the ride maybe we can make it up to Walmart to meet some folks. I will pass this along to hubby A-1 VTX (computer phobic). He is thrilled about this group.

I am in if folks can do it that day. I was looking at the pictures from the first gathering and got mad about having to work that day all over again. All the bikes look great, and I really liked the pix with them all lined up "profiling" in the parking lot. :) Show, are you going to be able to make the ride on Saturday? I remember you had the day planned already.

Here is the thing. My daughter was selected by a group called People to People to be a student ambassador. She will be going with 40 other kids from North West Florida to Australia this summer for 20 days. Catch is, I have to come up with the $5500 to send her. So I have bought a computer from Wal-Mart and asked them to let me sit out front for two weekends (19th and 26th) to sell raffle tickets for it. So, no I can't go on the ride because I have to sell tickets for this computer. I will be at Wal-Mart that morning, I just can't ride out with the group :( But come buy a ticket before you leave. It kills me not to go, but I just can't.

Since the rides going to AL, any chance that you could stop off in Pensacola and meet up with us/me? If your taking I10 we could meet at the Dairy Queen/Exxon station at the Scenic Drive exit. That's the first exit when you cross the bay bridge. If your taking 90 highway, we could meet at the Tom Thumb on the intersection of 90 and Scenic Drive just off the causeway/Escambia river bridge.

Well, I am hoping someone will chime in and say they are for sure going. (vtxkeeper?) Since I can't make it, someone needs to step up and say which way they all want to go. I10, HWY90?? Any thoughts?

Thanks Keeper. The tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5. Thank you for the support.
Dean needs to know which way you are taking to get there so he can meet the group on the way. How about I-10? Pick up the Pensacola crowd at the Dairy Queen exit?
...............Wish I were going.............

Well, the Weather Channel has finally posted Saturday, the 19th, on the ten-day forecast. From Crestview to Mobile.... partly cloudy and temperatures from the upper 60's to 70 degrees. No rain... and light winds... it don't get any better than that! :D I will be on I-10 heading west at somewhere between 75 and 80 miles an hour at 7:00am on Saturday. I can't wait! Chad and VTXKeeper... get the folks fired up 'cause it is going to be a great X day! I have discovered a hidden Red 1800 Retro here in town and I am working on him and the wife to join me on the ride. I might even have a FatBoy and a Winger coming too if that is okay?

I'm still offshore on an oil rig 'til 2/22, but the rest of the New Orleans group is pretty active. Try a post over there, it's only a 2 hour ride from New Orleans.
Like you guys, I've driven and ridden past it many times, almost hit the curb lookin' at it and still haven't stopped in. Sounds like fun.

The Pensacola group will be at the DQ just off I10 at Scenic Highway at 1000 on Saturday. If it's not raining, they're saying there's a 30% chance of rain.
Still working on rounding up some more, but we should have at least 3 or 4 VTX'ers.

Hey y'all! I am trying to convince some of the LA X riders to go. We are going to discuss it tonight at bike night. I am up for the ride...do it often all the way to Fort Walton Beach.
What are the final plans? When do you all expect to arrive at the ship?
VTXKEEPER

We leave Crestview at 9 am, get to Pensacola at 10 to meet riders there. Depart there at about 10:15 and head to the USS Ala. Approx. 100 mile to the ship from Pensacola. Should arrive around noon.
