Who is planning on going to this meeting on wednesday? Sounds like an opportunity to meet/greet and find out what is already organized for dudes like us who love to ride. Me(Wilsondude), Kevin(kxb44), and I think Lewis(DrywallMan) are going. 7:00 P.M. at Pipers - 1492 S. State.
I'll be looking for Joker. If it's decent, I think I'll ride. Anybody else?

I'm going to try to be there and so is my friend Ross. It will be fun to see you guys and meet other guys. It's a nice day today and I've been out riding. Hopefully, the weather will be nice for a few days. We might ride down there Wed. night.

I would like to ride if the weather permits. Since I am in Herriman I could meet up with whoever is going that way. Anyone interested?

My wife informed me tonight that I have a daddy-daughter activity on Wed. night. This is a good thing and a bad thing. I can't miss my daughters thing, so I'll try to make it down there later on.

I'll be leaving my house around 6:45 if anyone's interested. Don't know if I want to advertise my address, so pm me for directions. Unless it's raining/snowing, I'll ride my X.

It's always cool to meet new people . . . gets kinda lonely sometimes, only having Kevindude to hang out with. Quite frankly it gets boring listening to him always whine about how he can't keep up in his "C", and having to wait up for him at stop lights and such :mcrider:

Hey C's rule. And, I for one, have thoroughly enjoyed meeting all you new VTX riders.

I've met the Shadowriders. Go to their website and read the posts, and decide for yourself what you're getting involved with. I have an opinion, but as everything, opinions vary and we all have one. :)

Here's the Shadowrider website http://forums.delphiforums.com/ridersofutah/start

If you'd like to meet new people and you really like to ride, I might suggest the Salt Lake Motorcycle Club. They are the ones who will put on the Polar Bear Ride in March. Here's their website(s). www.slmc1.com (http://www.slmc1.com) or http://www.home.earthlink.net/~mkartch1 ... b_home.htm (http://www.home.earthlink.net/~mkartch1256/salt_lake_motorcycle_club_home.htm)
The Salt Lake Motorcycle Club, now these guys really ride. They will do a couple hundred miles a day and not even blink. Very well run, nice people, schedule on their website, when they say they are leaving at 9:00 a.m. you better be there with a full tank of gas and ready to go, and their rides normally start in the Salt Lake City area. They normally have a couple thousand (yes thousand) bikes for the Polar Bear ride.

Maybe all us VTXers should get together and go register for the Polar Bear together, I'd be more than happy to introduce everyone (if I can remember everyone's names).

Good Luck

The Polar Bear? Yes, the last 3 years. Sure a lot more fun on a VTX1800 than a Shadow Spirit. Had a head wind, 2 years ago and while going down I-15 had the throttle twisted off the handler bars.

Lots of wild and crazy drivers, out for the first ride of the year. You'll be going 80 MPH and people will be going by you like your standing still (you know, kind of like drywallman).

For your $10, you get a nice pin, continental breakfast, all the Chilli, rolls and drinks you can get eat for lucnch, poker run and they must give away thousands of dollars of prizes in a raffle while your eating lunch. Well worth the $10. They have t-shirts you can buy. I usually wait until Saturday to register to make sure the weather is going to be good. They will have a snow day on the 20th if the 13th of March has snow. If you want to buy a t-short, you may not want to wait until Saturday however, they go pretty fast.

But it is FUN, FUN, FUN with a WHOLE lot of new and friendly bikers of all kind, well organized, no hassle at all :D   :D

:D Hey that sounds like WAY fun!! Wife just informed me that she is giving me a $1000 just for being a great guy(NOT!!)(just part of the $9100 that I got for my knee, you know how wives are. :? ) what should I get first? 8) I looked and my VTX is not desmoged >YET<, read all about it last night, working nights sucks. (days off awake all night). I was thinking about a hypercharger, and a good engine guard/highway bar like Drywallmans. Was thinking about a throttle lock and some gripps to. rode a couple of hours yesterday and think my bars and seat are pretty comfy, Don't know if I want to change them. Heh like all X riders don't think I can get enough >CHROME<!!! I was reading about a guy that polished his cooling fins and they looked REAL GOOD. Oh by the way if the name don't tell all, I am an aircraft mechanic and I have access to some good stuff like; RTV-unlimited, good wire connecters and shrink tube(good for those messy wires and to keep them looking clean)-limited supply. Might be able to fabricate some stainless steel stuff- we got a >EXTRA BIN< free for me to PLAY with-just depends on what is thrown away. Just offering some of what I have for the good of all without getting fired. Hope I can contribute. Just feel free to ask. Oh yea this is the "Ride" post Hehe, I can ride any time Sun.-Wed. <(til Wed. 9:00pm). Just let me know.

Good deal Jetmech, I too was also a Aircraft Mech, Crew Chief, Flight Engineer, Flight Engineer Instructor, Night Vision Google Trainer/Instructor/Evaluator, Technical Inspector and Standards NCO while I was in the service. I fly CH-47D Helicopters all over the world, well almost. Best job I ever had.

Was thinking of trying to make one of these, not as thick though.
http://bigbikeriders.com/photopost/data/503/1818Emblem .
I was in the Army (1987 to 2001, Desert Storm Vet 1991, 1st ID). I was a 155 MM SP (Self Propelled) artillery crew chief  . Got me through A&P school though :4is: .I saw Kansas and Iraq (2 flattest places on Earth-wonder why I live here? :D ). WOW shock just set in, wife just called and said SHE is going to buy a motorcycle with the tax return. She can't handle a VTX though not even a 1300. she'll prolly get a >rebel< LOL. any of you guys have a woman that rides? could they talk to her and get her to get something good. I tried to get her to ride my Magna 750, she wouldn't. Said it was to big she is 5 foot tall and 130lbs, prolly was. Wow I am all over on this post. I better end this. I'll be looking for opinions on the emblem. maybe try to mod it a little.

My bro was also a gun bunny but then went to flight school and flew OH-58 in Iraq in "91". I was in Korea.
As far as your wife riding, she may be able to handle a 1300, you know it is lighter than the 1800. That way she can keep up with you with out having to kill her motor from all the RPM'S. Besides there ain't nothin sweeter than a family of X's. I wish my wife could ride.....may be not  .

Hey Jetmech, about that money your wife is "giving" you. I think I have a great option for ya! I think that there is no greater blessing that giving of one's self (and one's money) to a worthy cause . . . like me! I'm just a poor school teacher, and I "love's" chrome too! Don't ya think that'd make you feel all warm inside? Let me see; how easy would it be for me to spend a grand? Way! You gotta start with chrome engine trim, dude! Have fun, and about the bike for your wife . . . Shadow Sabre?

Welcome jetmech. My wife isn't much taller than yours. She rides a Suzuki VS 800 Intruder. They changed model names in 05 and are now called Boulevard S50. Salt Lake Honda Suzuki has some left over 04 VS 800s that they are making some great deals on. They are great little bikes. Low seat height, shaft drive, water cooled, smaller and lighter than your magna but still have plenty fo get up and go. Your wife is more that welcome to come over and try my wife's bike. I'm in South Jordan, just down the road from you. Here are the specs on the Boulevard S50. http://www.powersportsnetwork.com/enthusiasts/new_vehicle_detail.asp?VehicleCode=13041

Jetmech:

Take a look at the new for year 2004 Honda 750 Shadow Aero. Honda put a high compression ratio in this scoot, a drive shaft and the seat is realtively low. If you shop around, you can buy one new in the high 5ks. Has the Retro look, however. Biggest probem Honda has with most of their Shadow models, is the compression ratio is to low. Not on this new Aero, compession ratio is 9.6, our 1800s are 9.0. Compression ratio on the 1100 motors is 8.0

Here's a website on them http://powersports.honda.com/motorcycle ... Id=VT750C5 (http://powersports.honda.com/motorcycles/cruiser_standard/model.asp?ModelName=Shadow+Aero&ModelYear=2005&ModelId=VT750C5)

I was looking at the specs. 519 lbs (about 200 lbs less than a VTX1800), seat height 25.9 inches (Magna 750 is 28 inches)

Thanks all for the feedback. I like the look of the S50. that is a nice bike but you know women  >WELL<, its gotta be HER choice. But I will show it to her maybe have her meet your wife kxb44. I know that after I got my magna, it was about 2 weeks and I was looking for more POWER :D and trying to get her to ride it. She wouldn't. said it was to big, to fast >Magna HEHE  <. it was a nice bike though. rode it from Tucson to El Paso a few times. Used to live in Tucson, Bro lives in El Paso (no direct flights). Wilsondude I already donated my share this year >She got $8100 (to pay for Daughters wedding) of my $9100, and I get just $1000. I got a long way to go to catch up to you guys. I see those are some way nice bikes you guys have. Any more suggestions on what I should get first cause my pocket is almost on fire LOL.

To you guys that have paid the price to ensure my freedom, my sincere heartfelt thanks. You are what makes this country great. I'm damn proud of what you've done. I'm a high school english teacher, and I've got two senior classes reading Tim O'Brien's "The Things They Carried" in class this term. He's my favorite contemporary writer on the Vietnam War. He is a truly masterful writer, and I hope to impact my students in some way
with our discussions of brave men who tell their stories. The best thing we watch all year is an HBO piece entitled "Dear America." Good, powerful stuff. I think today's kids ought to look further than sports for their true heroes.

Hey sorry I didn't ride, had work, But I should have. It was dang nice this morning. No need to thank me, you teachers are the ones that are way under apreciated! THANK YOU!! I tell my kids all the time that America has lost it values and a darn shame that freaks in front of a camera that pretend to be teachers (Actors) get paid more than the teachers themselves. I think its just WRONG!! I think all of their money should be TAXED to no end and let teachers live here TAX FREE. Let the actors/sports figures struggle to make a living just like you and me. Just the reason I support (not do) file sharing on the internet. If Turds like Metalica can complain about napster because its loosing them money, Then find a new way to make money. Not cry and have lawmakers make more laws against US. Crap on a soapbox!!! I can go on, and on, and on. I won't get started. I just like being my KIDS Hero. Even at 17 my son thinks I am cool, and a good DAD. America is an awesome country, WE just need to fix a few things. Get back on track.>>> I need to go for a ride on my VTX calm down a bit.
