Went to Marnarch Honda this morning in Orem. Talked to service rep and told him that I wanted to Dyno my bike, he said it would cost $65.00. I told him I wanted a costom map made (he just looked at me as if to say..I don't know what your talking about), also wanted to know if he could map each cylinder and do it in 250 RPM increments. All I got was Ahhhh ok its been a while since I 've dyno'ed a bike (red flag). Then a little small talk when he said, "we can install a costom map off the computer (BIG RED FLAG). I said I can do that myself at home, download any map online and install it off my lap top. So I was nice and also said I might be back...NOT.
I have come to the conclusion that they don't have a clue as to mapping a Motorcycle or anything at all.
To all those who have had their bikes dyno'ed and tunned at Monarch Honda of Orem beware, You may not have a custom map.

So, the less mods I do, the less chance I'll have to play the dyno game, right? Just gonna de-smog, then K&N it. But then there's that damn 1300 rear end I can't get off my mind. Crapola

Lots of Dynos don't take all the variables into account to give you a reading which can be converted to Sea Level.
Here's a website you might find very useful.
When you get your Dyno done, take note of
Temperature
Altimeter
Dew Point
Altitude
Most airports closeby have this data, but the room temperature of where the Dyno is being performed, might be hard for the airport to provide you.
Plug these numbers into this website and Walla, you'll get relative horsepower that can be converted into a corrected figure. http://wahiduddin.net/calc/calc_hp_dp.htm
For each 1,000 feet above sea level one loses about 3% of their compression, thus horsepower and torgue. Thus our bikes at 5k feet run at about 85%, right off the bat without the other variables plugged into the equation.

Dang, I was hoping to get away without having to buy a power commander. What the heck, it's only money....and more power?

Are you having problems with your bike after your installed you pipes?
If not you don't really need a fuel manager. But with that being said, you may want to add some more goodies, and then you'll more than likely need one.
Missed you last night Kirby, to bad you didn't show up at the meeting. It would have been good to get together and talk shop.

Not looking for how much torque or HP my bike has, Thats not going to make it any faster, it is what it is. I just want it tuned and have a custom map file so my X is at it's ultimate in performance.

I was just trying to give you the formula for converting your torgue horsepower to sea level (comparable) horsepower/torgue levels of others.
I do understand what your trying to do. It doesn't really matter what the hp/torgue is at our altitude on the dyno as long as it is maxed per your EFI system.
Just trying to be help.

Agreed, I guess the guy needs that info just wants to gloat over how much HP & Torque his bike has. Don't need it, to much info for me, as long as it runs good and at it's best.

Not sure you need anything. I changed my pipes, air filter, air intake. Waited like 3 months before going to a TFi. Reason I got a TFi, was I needed more fuel, not much, but some. Made a big differnce. Got one off Ebay for $140.
Many variables, as to whether you need, your Fuel Injection modified, or not. Don't spend money, just to spend money. Read and research, before you buy a TFi system. At our altitude, you might be surprised, you don't need anything. Also depends on the back pressure and air filter you've put on.
Good luck.

Lewis, I really wanted to go to the meeting last night, but had a daddy daughter event with my daughter....such is life. My bike runs well with the new pipes, but it smells like it's running rich. Maybe I need to open up the air box and see what happenes. I've got to get these C service manual CD's to you guys. Maybe another get together?

I'm enjoying my 1300 rear end for sure. Going to build one for Mike (skipdrag) here shortly. I know he'll enjoy it also.

I personally, don't care which aftermarket Fuel Injection modifier one uses. I got my TFi Techlusion off Ebay for $135 (including shipping and handling). As I recall the Power Commander was about double that. Also Techlusion seemed the easiest for me to understand, and it doesn't alter Honda's computer, but alters the pulse width voltage at different RPMs (Idle/low speed, middle speed, high speed). Also, I just have a slight suspicion that Honda Engineers know how to program their Fuel Injection system and only minor adjustments are needed due to aftermarket modifications.
All I know is my bike runs great and it is easy to make adjustments. And I get 40 MPG out of my scalded ape.
Not sure I'm into all the different Mappings one can do with a Power Commader III. To many variables for me.
Anyway, I was searching the web and ran into this website. Really interesting reading comparing the three major aftermarket Fuel Injection Units. Appears to be a pretty independent appraisal of the different Units. Hope this helps anyone contemplating an aftermarket Fuel Injection Fuel Injection modifier.
Only negative, I could see about the article, is they don't mention price. As I recall, my TFi Unit was substantially less (about half as I recall) than the Power Commander III and about $25 less than the Cobra system (and the Fi2000 didn't have as many pods to work with). Price to me is definite factor to consider.

Good luck, hope this article helps people considering aftermarket fuel injection modicfication units. :)
I was just scanning Ebay and bingo. Here's a new TFi unit being sold from Mt. Pleasant Utah. $110 + $8 shipping, plus sales tax if you live in Utah (ouch). Drive down and pick it up. Could save the $8 in shipping. Here's the website. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... eName=WDVW (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=35597&item=4528686275&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW)
Another TFi unit on Ebay starting bid $.99, but minimum hasn't been met. Have a feeling Minimum bid will be over $100. Out of Calif, thus no Sales Tax, shipping $9.95 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... eName=WDVW (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=35597&item=4529121685&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW)

Good information about fuel managers and thanks for the web links. I'm more informed than I was before and will be making a decision on which way to go in the next couple of weeks.
