I'm planning a trip to Vegas in June. Fly in, rent a bike, and ride north on 93 to Ely, across 50 to Reno, around Lake Tahoe, and south on 95, back into Las Vegas. 1200 miles and 3 days. Doable? Good time of year for this ride? I have been to Death Valley, G Canyon, Tahoe, and southern Utah, but never across NV. Any tips/info would be appreciated.

why on earth would you do that? the las vegas to reno trip is the most boaring ride, senery doesnt change at all nothing real see. dont get me wrong nevada can be a beutiful place and yea thats the right time a year to do it, but i deffently wouldnt travel all the way out from florida to do that one. the 95 trip from reno to vegas that time a year wouldnt be bad. tahoes great anytime as long as there not snow on the ground, 3 days while be alot but you could deffenetly do. if you decide to do it let us know when your headed into reno and maybe we can give you an escort around tahoe, im sure we can get baca to tag along. fyi, im from south florida also been in reno for 15 yrs now. later

I know the Reno - Vegas leg is dull, but the Vegas - Ely, and Ely - Reno legs should a bit of an adventure. Why? Because it's there.

Always remember..............it's 5 o'clock somewhere.

I just happened to jump over for the CAVTX board and saw this post. This weekend I'm going on a ride from Morgan Hill, CA to Las Vegas via Sonora Pass/Death Valley. AFter two days in Vegas, we are heading up to Reno in one day. My current route from Vegas is 95 North to Tonopah/Hwy 6 East to 120 to Lee Vining/395 North to Reno.

It looks as though the 210+ miles from LV to Tonopah would be boring, but the rest looks fairly interesting.

Better routes are always welcome as we don't HAVE to take an certain way.

Let me know!
