NY State VTX Riders

Fellow riders, it seems that there is interest in forming a NY State VTX Riders Club. I have been researching other state chapters and how they do business. It seems in other large states, such as New York, they have adopted serveral chapters in one state i.e. NorCal, SoCal in California and Florida with its different chapters. I am proposing that we follow the same example and have perhaps WNY, Central NY, Capital district, NYC/LI chapters. I believe that the distance involved in riding from one end of the state to the other to get together on a regular basis for rides, etc makes it troublesome. I believe if we can get a person in each chapter to act as coordinator then we can do this. I am looking for volunteers for this. Please respond within this message to volunteer. I will volunteer for WNY for now if there are no objections. I will place the different chapters on the board and members can respond to the chapter that is closest to them.




How do you feel about this? Suggestions/comments are always welcomed and remember this is our club and everyone should have a say in how it is formed. I will wait to post the different chapter boards for now until we have had a chance to talk about this and refine it. T-Bone

I would be interested in a vtx club here in ny, do we have to ask the other clubs in the areas before we form to make sure there won't be any heartburn from them. Some clubs can get pretty uptight over clubs overlapping areas and not being able to get pledges for their clubs. I wouldn't care but just a thought....mike

Good thought Twisted-X but I don't think there is a problem as we will not be wearing colors. I have not heard of any other state having a problem. Basically, we are just a bunch of x riders riding and doing whatever is fun. Later, T-Bone.

I would be interested in heading up a Long Island Chapter. Because there is not VTX chapter on Long island I belong to a Yamaha Chapter.

It is great and the people are nice, but no one has at VTX.

Okay. So it seems like a lot of interest in the Long Island Chapter.

I have no clue as to what is involved on forming a real LI Chapter with Buy-in from Honda or some other kind of sponser.

I belong to a Yamaha Chapter (Due to lack of VTX Chapters) and it is very organized.

The yamaha club is sponsered by a local dealer and Yamaha mandates and okays all the patches, pins and names. There are yearly dues, organized rides, official riding rules, pins and patches. It is a very impressive chapter. They meet every month for about 1 hour at a local library to discuss upcoming rides, events and any money that is raised. They have a website and email notifications.

I would be more than happy to start up a chapter here on Long Island with the help of some other VTX members.

I think the number of VTX bikes or even VTX cruisers on Long Island far outweighs the number of Yamaha owners.

Lets put a list together of who is definately down with starting a chapter. I live in a small community with a clubhouse that we can meet every month for pretty cheap. It is large enough to hold about 25 people.

At the very least we should have a minimum of 10 definate riders. We would need a president, Ride coordinator, a treasurer, vice president and a communications person.

It seems to me the natural leader, sans an official election, should be the guy with the vision. I am in and willing to serve in any capacity to charter this organization.

I don't know about long island chapter? I think you have to be more inclusive maybe southern NY or something that doesn't limit a geographic area.

I'm in for a Hudson valley Chatper. Maybe Dutchess and Ulster counties. Shokan is 15 miles west of Kingston sitting pretty on the southern sde of the Catskills. Anyone else? scott
