Fellow riders, I have the following riders who have expressed interest in getting together and riding: Notaharley, T-Bone, Bowsrus, Bill F, str8leg, allpwr, ssblfish, toshea, vtxfred and gitix. If I have missed anyone let me know. I am trying to organize our first ride. Any suggestion on where? T-Bone.

T-bone Let me know when you are planing to get together. My winter projects for the X are almost done I still have to get new tires on it but I think i have some time yet B4 the weather is good enought for me to ride. the salt has to be off the road. I'm about 20 miles south of Buffalo but would like to hook up with some other VTX riders. I have a buddy close by that has a 1800 i know he would like to get together with some other X'ers. also. thanks Hard

Notaharley, I don't really know but everyone is welcome as far as I am concerned. I ride 2up with my wife most of the time so there is at least one other women.

I'm in Williamsville near Main and Transit. Would love to go for a ride with other VTXers (got an 03 C). 16 to 242(I think it's 242) over to Ellicotville to 219 to springville down Boston State and back is a pretty ride. JB

Thanks, I'm looking forward to it! I'm not quite sure how the notification thing would work though. I did shoot you an e-mail so you'd have my address. Would you post on this site? Send an e-mail alert? I've ridden with a group of guys over the past couple summers who would meet on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. and go for about a 40 mile run. If you could show fine, if not then next time. Nice group of people. Is this what you had in mind? JB
P.S. Hi Bill, your exhaust caps are cleaned and the bolts polished...very shinny :D

Thanks T-Bone,

I would love to ride with others. I just wasn't sure if some of the men on here would mind riding with me is all. I actually live in Blasdell right off the the Milestrip Exit and the 179. Let me know this spring about meeting for a ride. I am open for just about anything as long as I am not working that day. :)

Hey T-Bone, thanks for taking the lead on this. Probably the catalyst we need to make this happen. I'm looking forward to it. Now, if we could just get rid of that salt on the road by the end of March...

Jay...glad to hear about the bolts - looking forward to seeing how they look! Now, what about those bolts that hold on the sparkplug covers - can they be helped, as well?

Your welcome. I guess Mods is the wrong word. Its more wax on, wax off and polishing the wheels, putting a new metz 200 on the back again and stuff like that. I am thinking of getting a chrome radiator cover. We will see. What mods are you doing BillF? May spring come soon! Later, TB. 8)

Hey T-B, Caswell makes a kit specifically for polishing bike wheels. I've been reading a lot about polishing vs. cleaning and put some of it into practice with the risers on my 750...nothing like experience. They came out rather nicely. Best method so far has been 220, 320, 400 (all wet sanding) then buffing out with bown, then white buffing compound...I think I should add an extra step and use black compund before the brown...I'll try that when I do the rear hub on the 750. There was a site that gave a VERY good write up on the difference between polishing and cleaning. The author made a lot of sense and shot a whole bunch of holes in the generally accepted method for "polishing" the wheels that is offered on VTXOA, some of what he said did happen to me (ie sanding down to 1500 then buffing creates a clouding effect...he was right!!!) If you would like I think I can send you the sight. FYI I picked up the buffing wheels and compound to do the risers at Sears for $10.00. Worth the cost for the experiement.

The Cawell site is www.caswellplating.com (http://www.caswellplating.com) that should get you to the home page and there is a wealth of info to be had from there. If you have trouble finding the bike rim polishing kit let me know. I bought the buffing kit at the Easter Hills Sears...although I had the opportunity to go the the Boulevard Mall Sears a couple weeks ago and the tool department is about twice as large and stocked MUCH better than the Eastern Hills :D ...Bill F was over the other day..I think I've converted another bolt polishing junky!!! JB
PS. The buffing kit consists of 3 Sisal Wheel (s,m,lg) an arbor, black, red, brown and white rouge.

T-Bone: so far I seem to be just disassembling stuff.

JB got me started on polishing some bolts. I'm in process of doing the ground fix. I bought an Ultimate LowBoy, driver and passenger, so that will be going on. I plan on also doing the brights blue indicator light fix, the BigLry airbox mod, putting in a K&N filter, getting the Uber plugs, kury grips with the Kewl handgrip end helmet locks, breakaway throttlelock, and a clock. I also hope to install a garage door opener under the speedo area, wiring in a second honda trip meter button. I also connected permanent the connector for the Battery Tender, Jr.

I think that's everything for this winter, unless I get done early and get bored! If that's the case, I'll be looking into a Honda Boulevard shield, crashbars, highway pegs, and passenger floorboards

Hey Bill, in the immortal words of Dr. Frankenstien "I've created a monster". I'm really interested in the garage door opener thing. JB...WHERE'S THE SUN!!!!
Hey T-Bone, maybe before the weather breaks, we could plan to meet at a centrally located restaurant and meet, discuss rides, mods, etc...just a thought JB

Hi all just wanted to throw this one out. On Friday the 13th(May) the small town of Port Dover Ontario has a bike rally. It is just a one day event with about 75,000 riders attending, Check out the website for port dover and they have it listed. Might be a good chance for all of us to get together and ride and meet more vTx riders, Let me know, I'm 1&1/2 hours to Buffalo.....mike

Mike I would love to go in May to Port Dover. I will have to see how the job goes as far as taking a day off. You see I work with Mentally handicap adults for the State. To make a long story short I have only worked there a year. They start you off Part time and on probation for 1 yr. I then had to bid on an opening for a position which I bid on 9 openings. I got a call today saying I got 1 of the postings and I will be starting the 31st. Wouldn't you know out of all the bids I placed I got the last resort which is part time. It is so hard when you are low man to get any of the full time positions. To top it off I found out the home I will be working has 8 men, high function and are sex offenders (wonderful) Well, more postings are coming up so I will have to keep trying until I can get a full time position. I can't even plan a vacation at this time. I really want to go to Ohio in July so bad and I wont even know if I can until last min. I guess it looks like I wont be able to go because there is no way I will find a place to stay. I have heard that most of the rooms are booked already.

Hello VTXDDS, You use to live in the Buffalo area? When did you move to Long Island?

I went to dental school in buffalo. Graduated in 02, worked up there for a year, and came down here the summer of 03. When i lived up there, i had my gixxer. When i came down here and brought the gixxer, i realized that it just wasn't fun riding around down here with that bike, and i always loved the X so i finally decided to buy one. I lived in amherst, williamsville, and north tonawanda while i was there. I think the last time i visited up there was labor day weekend. Probably will head back up for another visit sometime in the near future. I wanna ride up there though. Problem is, the weather between there and here is so variable. hmm....

I went to Port Dover last year - and the rain was downright unpleasant. But it stopped by the time we arrived. It was a great time, though I'm sure not big on sleeping in a tent and there was no "last minute" lodging available anywhere nearby.

We went last year too and the rain was cold, but the worst for us was the road work with the tar getting all over the bike. I am still getting the stuff off everytime I wash it. I will be going this year again in May. Hopefully no more tar. We will have to set up a meeting place and ride up together. T-Bone.

Thanks twisted...I start at the new location on the 4th of April. I hope not to stay at that place to long. I am going to keep biding until I get full time. Well as far as the Homecoming in July if I can go last min..... I guess I may have to get myself a tent also. I am looking forward to meeting everyone as soon as this weather give us a brake. I see we are getting some light snow as I speak. Well you take care

Hey There notaharley, sounds like it just hasn't been your week at the new job.Sorry I just had to laugh, your description was too funny. I have a friend who does the same type of work and she started out the same way(although I don't think her first home had high functioning sex offenders, sounds a little scary  )Anyway it worked out for her in time, and she's now a supervisor making pretty good money,so just hang in there it will work out. As far as the Marrysville ride, my girlfriend and I are planning to go early on the morning of the day of the ride to the plant, 4:30 or 5:am and figure we should arrive there in plenty of time for the ride in. Then we figure to hang out for a while, and start back. Once we get far enough from the site we think we'll find a room easy enough. Tim

Hey there T-Bone, Sounds like you've got a good start to this wny riders get together, can't wait . I really don't have any suggestions as to where to ride from or to. But it sounds like there are a good many people who are more eastern(rochester and beyond) area. Maybe meet up somewhere in between Rochester and Buffalo. Just a thought. I'll still be there either way you can count on that.
