You guys have the, no that's not right, THE roads!! I was up last June for an oil well related job and got thru early. I rented a V-Rod in Casper and rode the above thru the Big Horn park and back.
I was going to make it a great circle back Casper-Buffalo-Tensleep-that Windy Valley-thru Shoshoni and back to Casper, but ran into freezing rain and snow in JUNE. In Tensleep where I stopped for gas, I met a German who was on a borrowed Wing (from friends in Minnesota and was touring the wild west) We rode back to Buffalo together stopping for photos etc..
Wow! As you probably noticed I'm from New Orleans. We just don't see anything like that ride has to offer.
I was so awed by all the scenery that I really didn't miss riding my VTX that much. The V-Rod is a lot different but still a nice cruiser.
What we consider cold down, you guys probably won't notice, but if we say its too hot to ride... well, it'd probably kill you all. LOL
I thoroughly enjoyed your state (in June) and one fine summer will try to come back on my bike.

Yep, great ride, only 40 miles to start up the mountain by Buffalo, or we go up through Dayton to Greybull, Worland, Tensleep, Buffalo and home. Nice ride for a day it you take your time. There are lots of places like that to ride. In the fall we drive down Crazy Woman canyon, have to take a cage, but the colors are incredible.

Another great ride is over the mountains leaving West of Sheridan (well actually a little north, then west. When you get to the junction, just flip a coin either way is a fun ride.

That is through Dayton, do both trips in one, takes a few hours.

I read Hal's Solitary Sturgis plans. I will be in Marysville for the 1,000 X's if my schedule permits and then to Sturgis and back to N.O. That'll warrant an oil change. lol
But if the drilling in the Gulf of Mexico slows down, I'll request WYO. for the summer. Your drilling is in high gear.
Stay warm.

You're right about our drilling being in high gear, and I'm loving it. I work for a machine shop that repairs BOP's, Annulars, and everytihg down to a 2" mud valve and the boom is going great for us. If you do decide to come on up, drop me a line, I'll show you around and we'll go cruising some.

Absolutely. Last time, Baroid sent me to Casper and I worked just south of Shosoni. I had to commute, and you know I didn't mind at all. The sights were so alien to south Louisianian, that it was a pleasure.
The Harley place in Casper had a special going on and Frank rented me the V-Rod for $49 a 24 hour day with unlimited miles. I screwed up in that I waited until the morning to pick it up. They didn't open until 9AM. I was ready a 7AM.
I'll roll my bike up in my pick-up if I'm going to stay more than a week. If not, I'll rent again.
ARE YOU GUYS GOIN' NUTS YET???? Riding weather is just around the corner.
Dave
P.S. Geaorge, I'll post or P.M. as soon as I know something.

My husband is a contractor for BP in Wamsutter two weeks of every month and we both ride VTX's. Our home is in southern Utah and that is where I hang out.
It was unusual to hear oilfield talk on this board. His handle is Onfyr, give him a shout and you guys can talk oil, hah! I am sure he would rather talk bikes!
