This number varies greatly throughout the country. Since we're all here in Md, I was curious as to just what everyone is paying. The BEST rate I got is from Maryland Cycle Direct. This was a better rate than state farm, nationwide or USAA. And I'm STILL paying $490.00 a year. :x

Does that sound about right guys? Or is anybody doing much better?

Thanks,

I had to call my insurance company from the dealership when I purchased my new VTX last weekend. I already have a 750 nighthawk on this policy. I was totally shocked to find out that I will only be paying $145 per year for BOTH bikes. Because of the increase in engine size, I was expecting a big jump in my annual insurance premiums. I also have Geico for my car as well, maybe that helped the rate too? I guess I would say that I am very satisfied with Geico.

I also pay about $490 through the same company. I'm hoping it will decrease a little when I move to Northern Pa in about 4 months.

This is my first post since joining, but I look forward to being on here quite a bit more and also having a chance to meet with some MD riders for some rides as the weather gets better.[/img]

I pay $445.60 per year. I live in Williamsport, MD near Hagerstown, so I think we are cheaper than Bal'mer. So I guess we are all in about the same except for that Gecko guy.

Interesting note, I just bought my X in September 04. Hadn't ridden a bike in over 20 years. My son, 19, was looking at a crotch rocket and got me thinking about it again. His insurance was going to be outrageous, plus the bike he was getting for the price he could afford was junk, so he backed out, and I bought a beautiful new Candy Red VTX1300.

Here's the interesting/ridiculous part. If Patrick gets a class M license, MY insurance goes up to $1300+ EVEN IF HE IS NOT GOING TO RIDE MY BIKE!

So if he gets his cycle license, his butt is outtada house!!!

Seriously, we have some beautiful rural roads out in this part of the state. If you get the chance, come on out our way. Maybe some of us can hook up after April 15. I'm a bean counter and have no life until after tax season.
