View Full Version : Saturday ride
Since I had no takers on my ride I went by myself. I went down 89 through Mt. Pleasant and Manti to Salina. Then took I-70 up Salina Canyon. Going up Salina Canyon I hit a snow storm. I didn't know that the top was at 8000 feet. Took highway 10 to Price then 6 to I-15 and then home. It was a total of 310 miles.
I mounted my GPS on my bike before leaving (that is how I knew that I was at 8000 feet). My speedo is about 5 miles fast at 70 mph. When GPS says I'm doing 70 bike says that I'm doing 75. Is there a way of correcting it so it would be closer than that?

Snow, eh? Dang, Clayton! I am also interested in your GPS. Please let us know what you find out, why you bought it, what you bought, if you like it, etc. Look forward to meeting up in the future.

Clayton, you're one Hard Core, rider, brother. I'd love to do that ride, in the Summer.
Yes, those Canyons do go up in the altitude my friend. Nice on a hot summer day, not so nice, when we're still in February.
Do you carry chains or have studs on your tires? :) :D
Mark,
I bought this GPS for hiking and GEOCACHING. It is a hand held Garmin E-trex Legend. It has 8 meg of memory to download maps into it. It does come with basic maps of the country. It has the major highways on it. It has worked well for geocaching. It has more bells and whistles than I use. I have been happy with it. With maps loaded you can locate points of interest, stores resturants etc. I bought a handle bar mount for my bicycle so I decided to try it on the VTX. Where I mounted it some of the numbers are a little hard to see on some of the modes. But for what I bought it for it has worked well. If you want to learn more about geocaching go to geocaching.com.
