I trust that you're ok? That's all that really matters. Let us know if we can help out at all.

Find out what the insurance wants for the wrecked bike, it might be worth buying back (to you or one of us  ) And make sure you get any goodies off that you might have added, they typically don't have salvage value.

Rob - Spoken from experience? Somehow the insurance company will say it was the riders fault not the deers.

Rob - Spoken from experience? Somehow the insurance company will say it was the riders fault not the deers.
In the words of the other guys Progressive insurance adjuster, "Well it's at least 40% your fault because you lost control of your bike. "

Isn't insurance grand??!!! Lets just hope that cruzin doesn't have a similar experience 8)

(btw - someone hit me Wed in my Civic, fender bender. just a little damage, but here we go again! )

Procycle in Columbia has overstock 2003 currently. I just bought mine on Monday for $7999. Their Sales Dept sucks, but for that price, I just had to deal with it. My understanding is that they sold 4 2003 VTX1800C's on Monday alone.

If you are looking for a deal, give them a call, just be prepared to deal with some sales crap before you get your bike.

OK EVERYONE. HERE IS YOUR COVER!

http://www.californiavtxriders.com/forum/album6450.jpg

This is the actual cover and not on aluminum.

I have directed everyone on the others posts to come to THIS ONE, so that the communication between everyone is only one ONE post instead of about 5.

What do you think?

Unless someone says different, the chrome will be shipped with the covers.

No covers.......

But my 11.5 progressives came today.... :D

But they had scratches and 3 bad chrome blemishes on them.... :x

I haven't had any luck ordering parts.

First, HDL sends me the wrong Cobra pipes...
Then, Motorcycle Pro Shop sends me the wrong seat....
Third, my NC Palading luggage rack doesn't fit my Palading backrest....
Now, HDL sends me beat up shocks....

First problem was completely HDL shipping problem. Shipping invoice correct. Package wrong.

Second problem was completely MPS shipping problem. Shipping invoice correct. Package wrong. Correct package now back ordered.

Third problem, NC quality control is working with me. I sent pics, because they can't believe the measurements I am giving them on my parts.

Fourth problem, not HDL's fault. Bad product from Progressive.

It is hard to stay patient. I want to get the new parts on the bike.

The 2.5 metric allen wrench will tighten them up. you do not have to tighten very much. No reason to. The actual thread size is 4 x .7 mm thread. If you have problems, let us know and we can send you another set of screws.

I have the same problem ... nothing I have will quite fit the SS screws. I tightened both but couldn't get them as tight as the ones I removed, so I replaced one SS screw with the chrome screw that was in the OEM cover, and I left the other SS screw in place (couldn't unscrew it without fear of damaging it, but it still isn't tightened the way I want it). Hopefully, I can tighten both of them up at Tech Day. Still building my tool inventory.

Is it bottoming out on the threads? Is that what you are saying? We haven't had anyone complain about them before. I'm curious to know, please let us know.

Hi Bone ...

I'll speak for my situation. The OEM screw is a standard Philips head screw. The SS screw looks like it is a kind of hex-head screw, but I'm not sure that it is a real hex-head. I pulled the hex tools and the Philips screw driver from my Honda Tool Kit (the OEM kit that comes with the bike), but the hex tools were too large and the Philips screw driver wouldn't quite engage the head of the screw. I just now went out to the garage and tried another option because I remembered that I'd purchased a small Cruz tool kit (like a Swiss Army Knife) and that it had a small hex head tool on it, but but the small hex tool was still too large to engage the screw-head, and the Philips screw driver on the Cruz tool was still too large. I wish I was versed enough in the tools we use to speak more clearly about this ... sorry, I'm still kind of ignorant about this stuff.

The screw is metric and requires a 2.5 mm allen wrench. If you would rather to have the chrome hex ones I'd be glad to send you a pair. Or the same kind if those are messed uo.

Thanks, Bone ... got it covered. The main problem is my ignorance, but I'm working at getting smarter every day. The cover looks great, and it's now fastened tightly to the reservoir with the SS screws! Thanks again!
