Hey! An X Cornhusker here (Bill Barnett). Used to live on a farm near Thayer, Ne (near York, NE) about 50 miles West of Lincoln, NE.

I will be riding my 2002 VTX1800R from Syracuse, NY to York, NE again this year over the Memorial Day Weekend. I have done this several times over the years since I graduated from Thayer in 1957 and left the farm.

Anyway, I'm looking for feedback regarding the Honda Dealer in Lincoln. When I get to NE this year I may need tires and most certainly an oil change, etc. Could you X riders share your experiances with me about this dealer.

Star City Motor Sports

Lincoln, NE 68503

I sure would appreciate it, Thanks

I do not have any information on that dealer but PowerSports Pro in Omaha is excellent service organization. They never turned me down for work like some other dealers have.

aw,
If you are looking for something in Lincoln then you might want to look at Rod's Power Sports if it's a Honda dealer you are looking for or if it doesn't matter then you might think about Great Plains Cycle in Lincoln also. Do a yellow pages search from Yahoo and then type in these businesses names if you need an address or phone number. Good Luck!!!

stay away from star city. you may get a fair price on a new unit. but when icomes to service and parts. they always had to order in stuff. service is poor. a friend of mine bought his bike there and had warranty work done took 2 months to get back and things were just not right. they did some clutch work. and thats all.. why would you remove the tank? i had to go over one cold evening and attach his dash/gauges the proper way. they just threw it on. on the other hand i would definetly deal with Rod's powersports. i had tires put on last year the price was lower than quoted and fair. they also had a guy stay late on a saturday so i could pickup my bike. they have most everything in stock. even the aftermarket stuff. good luck.

Most places all have to order the stuff in. It was the same for Rod's as it is for Star City as for Great Plains. It depends what you want. Either way, a lot of stuff can be overnighted at any place. Most places offer discounts to past customers, so I'm sure you'll get a lot of responses on this.
Personally, I go to Star City. It's about 6 miles away for me, and right off the interstate, and I've had zero problems though opinions vary...

What I've found is that Star City is usually 30% more expensive than the rest of the world on just about everything and they never have anything I need in stock (except maybe bikes, I've heard they'll 'wheel and deal' on new scoots)

Gretna Honda doesn't get my business because they won't install anything they don't sell. Also they're small and probably wouldn't have your tires in stock.

Rod's Powersports is great for service but they're not the best to negotiate a new bike price with.

For on the road service I suggest Rod's Powersports. I have the utmost confidence in their service guys. and Ryan (service manager) is as helpful as can be. It might be a good idea to call and give them a day's notice on tires in case they need to order them. Or you could order some from HDL and have them shipped to my place ahead of time. I'd be happy to meet you at Rod's to have them put on.

I must apologize to Heavy. I did not mean to attack Star City. Most of what I am going by reliable sources plus several expriences myself. I do agree with Robdogg they always see higher in price on everything unless it is a bike. again I apologize for any wrong info. I am not trying to make enemies, but when a fellow rider asks for advice i will give my opinion. Thanks, Dale.

Thanks, but you have no reason to apologize. This is a forum where all opinions can be made, good or bad, and it's better that people tell their experiences both good and bad.
I've worked with Star City, Great Plains, and Rods, and have had great experiences with all. I've also had to order stuff at all places due to not having the items stocked... I know some people have gotten shafted at all these places too. It's like owning a computer. Some people have great experiences with a Gateway, and some people get the lemon. Opinions get formed, and the company must deal with it. It's part of business. Especially in my line of work, you can't always please everyone, you just hope to please as many as you can.
If a place has messed up though, they need to be notified, period.

I've always attempted price matching where I go to buy stuff. Some places will, and some won't. It's their business, and they can decide for themselves if they want the business or not. Otherwise I'm shopping elsewhere...
