Would you guys look at this article on air filters- http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/filters
written by Mark Lawrence- sorry if you have read it before but I found it on the Canadian board and I don't want to be doing something to harm the engine?

Here is another one, and you can find 50 more with a little research. I don't use a K&N and never will.

Aside from whether KM filters fail to filter particulates as effectively as other filters, is it reasonable to assume that the OEM air filter will be sufficient to support most aftermarket pipes?
As I read most of the posts to the VTXOA board, most folks seem to think that they need to add a new air filter and to re-jet when they add an aftermarket exhaust system.
If, on the other hand, most aftermarket pipes can be supported by the OEM air filter, and perhaps by re-jetting, then I'd rather go this route and save the money I'd otherwise be wasting when I added an air filter that wasn't needed. I like the shape and appearance of the OEM airbox, and the OEM filter is fairly inexpensive compared to several aftermarket filters.
Can someone shed light on this? Thanks.
