I got the shocks back on today after polishing the tops. They don't look too bad. It's kind of an old school look. I'll keep them on for awhile, and see if they grow on me.

This mod really downplays the shocks. They don't stick out near as bad.

Have you had a chance to check them out?
Are they still adjustable?

They should still be adjustable. I haven't tried them out yet though.

The polishing end of it wasn't so bad either. I used 400 then 600 paper, and wet sanded them. A quick polish with Mothers, and the tops looked a lot better than stock.

Just want to make sure... this is the result of taking the ugly chrome cover off the stock shock? If so, I think your modified stock looks much nicer than the stock. Did you powdercoat the coil or is it like that stock under the cover? I would be interested to know if they are still adjustable. Sounds like an inexpensive mod to do until I can save up for better back shocks. Have other things I want to spend $ on first. (on the X of course. 8) )

What you see is what I had to work with. They were powdercoated or painted gloss black stock. I scratched up the black coat a little when screwing the top on. It's not easy. If I had an easier way to do it, I'll definitely go into business. :) I think it was about a $60 mod (stock pair of shocks and sandpaper for the tops.... Just find a chop saw, and you are golden....

Ahhh, now I can see. I like it. What do you think about it? Do you like how it turned out? How does the ride feel to you?

I haven't adjusted the shocks any. I think I will a little bit. It's definitely a tad lower (just a little). The look is killing me with the left side chromed swing arm pivot cover. With that and my tank bib on the tank, I feel like I have a chrome line on the bottom, a gloss black line in the middle, and a leather line on top.... It's just me though. I'm sure I'll get used to it....
I really like the shocks, and wish I wouldn't have chewed them up a little getting them back together. A little touch up, and I should be good. I might as well also put the chrome shocks on, and see how the pivot cover works with them....
