My old computer crashed. I think I lost about 30 gigs of information. Unfortunately, most of these were old Napster files (legally downloaded) I might add. :)

I won't be checking by near as often until I get everything straigtened out.

It started out as a great day. I bought a new 19" monitor, then rode for several hours. As I was messing around with my PC, an error message came up saying I needed to reload windows as it locked up.

From what I've heard today, Gateway doesn't tell you or warn you in anyway that using their system restoration disks (with Windows on them) totally wipes out your hard drive.

About 3500 MP3's, 50 videos, email, pictures (about 30 gigs in memory) is all gone. I have backed up some of my stuff, but everything else is gone, and reinstalling everything is a PITA!!!!!!

So, I'm waiting for Road Runner to reset my password on my email, and I'm seriously contemplating just buying a new computer, and lending this one to my Mother in law....

What a day... At least I rode.

Moral of the story: If you can ride all day long, and not mess with your PC, ride all day long.

Heavy, one of my home pc's recently crashed and I purchased a piece of software that can restore most files that have been lost due to a crash. This software can even find files on a drive that will not boot up on its own. I am on vacation right now, but if you want it I can send you a copy when I get back into town.

After my computer crashed, my PC prompted me to reboot Windows. Unknowingly, when I did that, it reformatted my hard drive, hence washed it clean... so... I'm waiting to save up some money for a new computer, and start all over. This one is working for now, but who knows for how long.

The software that I have can even retrieve files from drives that have been reformated. If you need it to try out, just let me know. I had to retrieve alot of files from my drive that had been fdisked and reformatted.

Thanks, but I'm ok with just starting over. My PC run much faster, and some of the older files may have been corrupting the system.
