I just bought a leftover 03 1800C and am looking at all the possibilities for customizing it. I was a my Honda dealer and inquired about an aftermarket exhaust system and they won't touch it. They said good luck getting it inspected here in Maine. Has anyone else encountered this? I would love to change the exhaust but why bother if you can't get an inspection sticker.

Inspect it first. Personally. Thats why I hate Honda Dealers. I think they are no good peices of ****, if you ask me. I have Bub pipes on my bike and love them. I had to go to a bike shop to get a sticker, stay away from the Honda Dealer as much as you can, only go there when something can be warrenteed. They screw you, charge way to much and have too many coffee breaks. Like I said, I have saved a fortune and frankly, these smaller shops know damn well more then those Honda Dealers. Good Luck!

I got the same thing from Schott's in Lewiston. They'll sell you the pipes but they won't inspect it afterward you put them on. The guy said the pipes have to change in diameter to be inspectable. I think he said they had to increase in diameter. Don't ask me why. :?
I agree with Customed1300 don't go to a dealerships. Especially the ones in Southern Maine. If you can't do it yourself, find a small bike shop that you can trust. I had Power Wheels on the Muzzy Road in Scarborough do some work for me. They seemed like good people. If you guys know of a place that does good work on bikes in Southern Maine let me know.

Anyone know of a fair bike shop in the Bangor area? I'll need a sticker and a good mech.

I just bought a set of V&H Bigshots and put them on myself. It was really easy to do, but I have an advantage, no inspection required, the bike is registered in Florida.

Got an 1800 with Boomcan. Just had it inspected at the small shop in Lisbon. Mechanic said that it just has to have baffles.

I just installed a set of 3" Hard Krome Dual Sideburners. They have permanent baffles and are LOUD, but sound real nice.

Still working on some decent pictures. As locals will realize, been imposible to get outside for a VERY long spell. My Boomcans are by Drag Specialties. The same ones are now available from BUB.

Regarding sound, I thought they had a bit hollow sound at some mid range RPM's. I stuffed the annulus around the baffle with one round of SS pot scrubbers and it seems to have eliminated tha hollow sound.

Idling, they produce a VERY intimidating 98dBA thumpa thumpa. At highway speed, there is only a pleasant cadence just noticible above wind noise.

In other words, can be civil if desired, can really growl if asked.
