I'm running V&H Bigshots. They are on the loud side, but look and sound awesome. I've gotten lots of compliments on them. I have a Thunder Tornado Intake on the way (if Hal ever gets them back in stock). Just remember... "loud pipes save lives!!"

I have the 2 into 1 Hard Chrome side kicker, very low and loud. Really depends on how much you wanna spend. New pipe, then add a power commander, your at $700-1000.

I've got 2 Road House slip-ons. One factory lenght & 1 Shorty.
I love'em both. they are loud, but at the same time the sound is deep. :D
I've found that pipes with a higher tone seem to be more harsh sounding.
You can easily hear the Road House comming for 2-3 blocks, but it's a deep sound that's really pleasant.
The sound they give when under hard acceleration is too different to even describe.
Like I said I've got 2 of'em (got 2 VTXs). If I was to buy another, I'd buy another Road House.
You can hear some sound clips at...
http://www.roadhousebrand.com/sound_clip.html
However the C-model sound clip does not sound as deep as it does in person.
I've gotten a lot of compliments on the sound. Even from an older retired guy on a Gold Wing.
I've heard a lot of different pipes on VTXs, Road House is in my opinion the best. (my opinion)
And at around $350, not gonna break the bank. :pepper1:
If I'm not mistaken they are also designed with the use of a dyno for optimum hp and torque balance.
P.S. after listening to the other sound clips, my X's sound more like the clip posted as "Road Star"
All of these clips sound better with a good subwoffer.

You don't need the Power commander for the 1300. We're still running carbs. You will have to rejet if you go to an aftermarket air intake so add some more $$ into the mix for that.

I'm not sure if you'll need to remap an 1800 if using a Roadhouse.
I know that a custom map on a stock bike is quite an improvement.

Hey Xpodell,
Where do you live? I'm looking for a different exhaust & would like to hear yours in person. Did you order yours online or go to one of the dealers they list on their website?

I live in Cannon Falls, MN (about 20 min. south of St. Paul).
Where are you?
DISCLAIMER
I'm going to be putting my neck on the chopping block by making the next few statements.
Please keep in mind that everyone has a different idea as to what a bike should sound like.
I had put a set of V&H Big Shots on my VTX. they stayed there for 3 days.
I hadn't quite figured out where the "deep meaty rumble" V&H was advertising went.
My first thoughts were "Wow, that's loud !"
Did I forget to put something in? Baffles were in. Not much more to put on.
The local police took great interest in my new shiny pipes (wasn't the shine they took interest in).
I saw that the Roadhouse Brand slip-on had 3 interchangeable cores.
When I called the guys at Roadhouse, the guy was telling me of a ride he was on and a couple
of the guys with V&H were stopped and ticketed for too much noise.
On average the V&H run about 106 dB and the Roadhouse about 86dB (medium core).
I figured that if I didn't like the one that came with it, I'd buy a different core or modify the one it came with.
The one it came with ROCKS!! I get compliments from Harley guys and Gold Wing guys.
The sound is loud but at the same time very deep. When I had the first fuel map done on a dyno,
the results came back that I made 1.5 Hp better and 3Ft-lbs of torque better than with the V&H.
A lot of people don't realize that Roadhouse prototypes are tuned on a dyno before going into production

Xpodell,
I'm in Prescott, WI. Not far from you. Bought my bike in Cannon Falls! I'd love to come down & hear your exhaust. When would you be available? I'll pm my cell number.

As far as exhaust goes, Tomm is right...everyone's opinion is different. I had jardines on my 1800, and they sounded awesome! But the quality was horse *****. A lot of people told me to buy the Hard Kromes and I would love them...good look, good tone....HORSE *****!! They don't have anywhere near the tone of my old jardine drags. These are just loud and tinny. I have contemplated buying the roadhouse 2-into-1, but hate to spend more $$ on exhaust for my bike. The 1300 is a whole different story though. The single pin makes it sound good with most pipes...IMO.
Air cleaners...I have had both the Hyper Charger and the Thunder tear drop. The hyper got a lot of looks, but the thunder is good too. Both with get the job done IF you re-jet. Missed your wife on the ride yesterday....

Todd, I have Cobra lowboy staggered (baffles removed) and a hypercharger on my 1300. Easy install, and I rejetted myself. Very loud with out baffles, but with them in it sounds nice. I always have to ride in the back of groups cuz people complain? oh well!
