Oh come on, there's at least two other VTXers in the state!

LOL thanks! I like your handle too. Cheesy though they may have been, I really liked the Mortal Combat movies. (And the soundtracks!)

Yea, I was pretty good in the day playing MK. But now I get my butt kicked by my 8 year old at just about everything LOL! So is rough getting riding time in AK? That may sound like a stupid question I suppose but since none of us from the lower 48 hardly get to AK I was just wondering.
Looks like some beautiful riding from the looks of the pic you have. Here in Illinois it's just pretty flat and boring, nothing to look at but corn. Well, better get back to work.

Hey Jason whats up? I have been wanting to get a ride together to the lower 48 ever since I drove the Alcan to get here. 8) what do you have in mind, or are you just polling

Hey, looks like a cloudy day up here. Good thing I got in 100miles last night while I had the chance!

I'm semi serious. I have driven in & out several times and I think it would be a really cool ride. Finding enough cash to finance the trip, and even harder, finding enough vacation is a tall order.

There is a group arranging a trip to AK in the summer of 2006. At least scouting for such a trip. They had the good idea  to have a trucker ship all their bikes either to or from the state. That way they cut a clean 4,500 miles off the trip. The idea that popped into my head is that we might be able to join that party depending on what direction they ship their bikes. Either ship ours out at the same time they ship theirs home, or ride out and ship ours back along with theirs.

Of course I haven't asked them about it, don't know if there's room, don't know the schedule etc. But it's a possibility. Plus the more bikes involved the cheaper the shipping for everybody.

I'd really like to take my son on a really long trip out of state. This summer is a chance to try some long rides to see how it goes.

That might be something I would be interested in. Actually I was thinking of shipping my bike down to Seattle "witch one I don't know" and riding to Sturgis next year. It's only about 1400 miles from there. Then riding back home from there. It would a slightly longer trip home.

Have you looked into cost / logistics for shipping to Seattle yet?

It's pretty cheap shipping to the lower 48. A lot of boats go back empty. I shipped my chopper up here and it was only about 450.00. There were some extra costs. They had to build a special pallet because of the lenth of the bike. So I don't think it would be to bad. No more than a plane ticket
