Have you guys seen the covers that Bonz from the CA board makes? He does some fine work. (http://www.vtxoa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=44966&highlight=) Any of you interested in coming up with a design for the great state of Minnesota? Minimum order is 15 covers for him to do the work. They are $35 a piece. It looks to me like that wouldn't be too hard for us to come up with 15 guys that are interested (maybe even fewer since you 1800 riders have the hydraulic clutch and would maybe order 2). I'm not all that creative but I would think we could come up with a design.

I would be interested depending on the design. Or will that bring more attention to my bike!

Nice. I like the second one. I've tried to come up with a rough design, but like I said, I'm not all that creative. Looks like it might be a decent day to ride finally!!

Thanks VTXTAPPER, I saw you also and turned around but then the lovely rain started so I high tailed it home. Then I saw you lurking around the streets, you were close but never came down my street.
Let me know if anyone is going out today I might be able to get away. PM me if you are and we can hook up.

Thanks sjmenn, I know some people are probably not into skulls, but I just wanted to get the ball rolling if we are going to do this. I have some more ideas. PM me if you are going out or where you are and I will stop by, I have driven around there to many times and I have not seen you. I looked at you picture and I do not see that house anywhere. Your not really in Rosemount are you. HA HA :D

Thought something with the state shape would be kewl, but for best size, would have to be sideways... uugh.. hmmm
Even if could go like the CA VTX logo, only with MINNESOTA instead? Simple 'nuf even. I'd be game if got enough interest and decent logo!

Ok, don't have the time to do it all. But this logo could be used with the MINNESOTA curved over top, and RIDERS curved underneath. Just a thought. Using same type of layout as the CALIFORNIA logo was, only this logo.

hey guys, just a heads up, we have had a minnesota vtx riders group for more than three years now. if you do make something with a name on it, you may want to use the one with only the x riders name.
http://www.mnvtxriders.com
we are fairly disorganized group but are not willing to let go of the name as of yet.
there is history already, you guys don't have to join up with us but please respect what we have done.
thanks,

Guys,
I propose that we try to get the Minnesota X Riders more organized. Since we all have the same love for our bikes and we should respect the current organization, lets try to work together.
I haven't seen any events, other than the Saturday rides. We could do so much more if we organized and worked together.
This would need to be done with the blessing of the current group. WHat do you guys think?

That's fine with me. It just doesn't seem like that group is very active on this board. I'm probably wrong. Just seems that way to me. I do get the weekly ride emails, I just haven't been able to make any of them.
bsvendahl- Sorry we missed you yesterday. We ended up just riding to Red Wing and back. it was pretty cold and we weren't really dressed for the weather. If you're looking for the house in my pictures, you are looking for the wrong house. That place is in Eagan and I don't live there anymore (but the wife still does :( )

www.mnvtxriders.com (http://www.mnvtxriders.com) was created and running before the Minnesota forum area was ever created. There was no reason to abandon what we already were using.
Alot of us ride more than 1 day a week, but have just kept the standard Saturday ride. When you say, 'events', such as ? There is nothing keeping anyone from becoming active within this group and planning 'events'
'disorganized' - When stpaulvtx first put this together, we voted unaminously not to have 'elected' or otherwise postitions within this group. The majority that do participate are content with the way things are and to just meet on a Saturday and ride. That doesn't mean someone can't step up to the plate and 'organize' something.
Just respect that we've been around for a few years, we're open to anyone and join in and help make this a bigger and better group of people that enjoy riding their motorcycles with others.

As the person who started this thread, I'd like to state that it wasn't my intention to step on anyones toes or disrespect anyone. I was actually half hoping that when I brought up the idea of coming up with a design that somebody from the MN VTX riders would offer up that logo, but it didn't happen. A lot of the newer guys on here probably wern't aware that the minnesota vtx riders existed. I'm a registered member on mnvtxriders.com. I haven't been on any of the rides (yet) as they haven't fit into my schedule. I don't know if just being a registered member of the website gives me the right to have a master cylinder cover with that logo on it or not. If the Minnesota VTX Riders would rather we didn't use that logo (since maybe not all of us are members over there) we can come up with something different, but would respect the fact that you would want us to use different wording as to not infringe on your logo.
I just think bonz does a great job, they look cool, and I'd like to have one to represent our state to put on my bike.

All I was saying is that maybe it's time we organize. I'm not trying to force anybody out. Lets just start be getting some covers. They don't have to say Minnesota VTX Riders if they want to kep that name for themselves. I won't step on anyones toes. I would prefer that we all worl together to form one club. We could then do thing like charity rides and other worthwhile stuff. The members of VTX Riders that I have met are great guys and the last thing I want to do is get into some stupid argument.

As with emails, it's hard to convey the tone of the message. My response is nothing more than to offer information about why there is this thread and the mnvtxriders.com website. Just trying to encourage everyone to use and expand the current club we started 3 years ago. We're a pretty tough bunch and don't offend to easily, but like anyone, we want to protect the effort that we've put into this over the last 3 years.
For example the website is maintained by stpaulvtx and myself. There are no dues and the website has been paid for by stpaulvtx until just recently. I posted this spring looking for a buck or two from anyone that uses the board to support the cost of the website which is open to all that join. I have put a ton of time lately into a new message board that we hope to switch too. It has alot of new features including the uploading of images. This required scripting to export all the current message data into the new board. Everything is done as cheaply as we can. If I don't write it, we try and find the free stuff.
Unfortunately this Chapter forum thread has caused confusion with the mnvtxriders site and we are not a 'special' or unique group that wish to remain separate from what Wilbur had originally intended. So, if you want, your more than welcome to use and contribute to the mnvtxriders site which we believe will benefit everyone. :D

Hey Steve, post the thread about the covers on MN VTX Riders, there is probably interest over there, not too many of us check this board out anymore, we just drop in occasionally to cause trouble... :D
I just happen to know who did the logo we use and I am pretty sure he would let you use it for the covers if you go over to that forum and participate in the group.
There does not need to be an us and them mentality, as Mark stated this board did not exist when we set up that one. So we set up one for the Minnesotat riders, it is free and without obligation, use it at your convenience.
Thanks,
ed

I'm all for a single group. It seems our numbers are growing and it would be great if we could all work together to get something special going. I'll post over there and make an effort to spend more time on that board. I hope everyone else will do the same.

Take a look at Bone's gallery to get some ideas of what else could be done for logos on the covers:
http://californiavtxriders.com/forum/album_personal.php?user_id=123
I really like his work and would love to have a set of covers, but I'm having a tough time justifying $70 for them. Maybe if the MN logo was REALLY cool...

I think they'll eventually get back to producing them... Sounds like they're just looking into getting the right equipment to make them on-site instead of having someone else do it. They'll probably be back in action in a few months. In the meantime we (MN riders) should come up with a nice logo. Even if BONZ doesn't make them maybe someone else can. Or the logo can be used for a patch! I'm awful at graphics so all I can do is give advice on what other people come up with!!
Later,
Rob
