Good afternoon, nice day huh? Anyway I just sold my Harley a week ago. Why? It was the most uncomfortable bike I ever had. That and it was a lot of money to own and try to fix up. I looked at VTX's before but went with the Harley basically for namesake. I want a bike that I can enjoy riding. What I am wondering is what made fellow Minnesotans pick the VTX over the Harley or Victory etc. I have yet to read anything negative about the VTX but would like to hear from owners themselves. Also, I'm tall, 6'3" is the VTX good for tall riders? Thanks for reading. Mike

Not sure what X your looking at (1300 or 1800, C, R, S or Neo), but you can't go wrong with any of them.
As for being tall. I'm also 6'3". I have a 1300C. I did find the ride a little cramped (but not uncomfortable). I put a set of accutronix forward controls on and the ride is way better. With the cost of the bike so much less than a Harley, You can put a ton of aftermarket stuff on and still be way below the cost of the HD. Good luck in your search. If you end up with an X make sure you spend plenty of time here. This board has a lot of very knowledgable people who are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Ditto to that sjmenn. I am 6'4" and the ride is a little cramped stock but not much,I put the 240 rear tire kit on and it lowered me approx 2 inches and pushed me back a little with the new seat. Bottom line Hadaharley, BUY ONE!!!!

There is only one Harley model that I really like the looks of (well 2 if you include the V-Rod, but that wouldn't be much good for 2-up riding and I needed that). It is the Screaming Eagle Deuce - fully loaded. Nothing else appeals to me. With a loaded Screaming Eagle Deuce pushing $22-25K, I just could never justify it - plus I'd still need a better passenger seat and a windshield. When I found the VTX it was very close to that sweet Deuce look but I could get one for almost 1/2 price. Then, this spring, as I began to research VTX's more in-depth I realized I could get a holdover 2003 for just 1/3 the price of a Deuce. Now I had the ability to buy a really cool bike that I liked the looks of AND customize it with tons of extras that I normally wouldn't have had the budget for (pipes, power commander, grips, pegs, Ultimate seat, etc.).
The VTX actually has numerous things that I like much more than even the Deuce: wider gas tank, wider rear tire, more power, looks better with windshield, can transform from solo cruiser to comfy pseudo-tourer with ease, aftermarket parts that aren't priced like gold, a really cool VTX community with lots of support and assistance with ideas, mods, solutions, etc.
So I have a VTX and I'm liking it!

im in ND, hope that's close enough to reply :)
Love the X, you gotta ride one if you haven't yet, the only thing ive rid in the cruiser market with as much throttle power is the V-rod, i shouldn't say as much either ;). If you originally bought a sporster than i can c your comfort issue being 6'4 im 6'1 and i feel like a bear riding one of those circus bikes on my girlfriends. There's a severe bias on this site that's gonna tell you why the X but all the posts above are good reasons to me. Being up north with are riding season is another point on the price that i liked, and if i do move south ill go run the harleys for slips down there  if i get in the market for one. Fuel injection on the 1800 is also great for the cooler days.
