Shifting problem

Just got my 05'1300 R driving it around getting acquaints with the weight and all I'm having a problem shifting back to first its either locked into a higher gear or neutral I have to rock it in reverse to get it release to go into first The bike hasn't been broken in yet I have approx 15 miles on it but this happen like at stops. What I'm doin wrong? or check with Honda?

I never knew why, I just knew if I didn't get to first while moving, that starting to let the clutch out always allowed it to find a gear and downshifting in place could continue.

I know if I can't shift down to 1st while stopped, letting the clutch out momentarily, then engaged again, I can downshift to 1st, while stopped.
