Never too early to start planning. :D
The Heartland Riders Association began in June 2003 when several local motorcycle enthusiasts got together after attending the April Leesburg Bike Fest. They decided Highlands County Florida would be the perfect place to have a motorcycle event with games, music, food and fun. The area is great for rides and the October temperatures make for great riding weather. The group worked hard along with others who joined the Association in planning the three-day event that was held on October 1-3, 2004, in Historic Downtown Sebring. The first inaugural event was a huge success in spite of the three hurricanes that hit the Sebring area. The Association now has over 300 members who are citizens of our community and endorse our Second Annual "Run to the Heartland".
This years event will be held September 30, October 1 and 2, 2005, in the Historic Downtown Sebring Circle area.
Daytime events in the Circle will include street vendors and live music on two stages. One stage will have local bands and entertainment throughout the 3-day event. The other stage will be used for game announcements, trophy presentations and 'name band' entertainment on both Friday and Saturday nights. The HRA will again be featuring Jerry "Motorman" Palladino, the maker of "Ride Like a Pro" video series featured on the "Born to Ride" television show. He will perform on Saturday at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Daily organized motorcycle rides will incorporate the towns of Avon Park and Lake Placid.
