i have an 1800 2002 vtx done 25000 klms in past 3 years. Sick of paying inflated dealer prices for second rate services. so am looking to do my own servicing now the warranty is over. live close to adelaide in South Australia and wondering if anyone knows where i can get hold of a technical or workshop manual

Just bought the genuine honda workshop manual, You can get that from your dealer, if you dont mind feeling you just got held-up for a couple of hundred!

I got my service manual for my 1300 on CD off eBay for about $10 - the only thing that sucks is it won't print properly. I don't think they do that anymore though.
Just do a search on VTX service manual on eBay and something will be returned.
Sure beats lining the dealers pockets.

Bought the CD off Ebay for about $10 and the manual from HDL in the States for about $50AUD. Don't buy it here will cost over $200. Both work fine.
