Putting together a tech session for the South Florida area. The topic this time is "valve adjustment". It is one of the more involved maint. jobs and the one most people need help with. Our very own Metzmauler will be our resident wrench and share his experience for this session. Details to follow soon but here's what we have so far:
Who:Anyone wishing to learn how to do the valve adjustment that is part of the 8000 mile service.
What: A tech session with valve adjustment being the main topic. We will actually do this on an 1800.
When: Saturday March 13, time is to be determined but will start sometime in the AM. Will take somewhere between 4-6 hours to complete.
Where: Looks like Weston or Pembroke Pines area.
More details will follow soon. Post a response here just to help me get an idea of how many people would be interested and how big of a place we need.

I look forward to stopping by. Not sure I will be able to stay for the entire session but will be there for a while.
Will try and be there.

Ooh yeah... I'll bring the duct tape :) Sounds great. Should we list some of the other tech sessions that might interest the other X'ers? Here's mine
Clutch & Throttle cable (adjusting)
Brake pads (Changing of)
Carb Jetting (Who's got the Dyno?)
Can't wait!

If I'm in town I'll be there for the whole thang. I won't know for a few days whether I'll be here or Texas.

As of now (with change unlikely), I'll be there. I've got about 5k on the bike. Want to use it as the guinea pig?

Minus, it looks like you're in the area. If you want to be added to the SFL Xriders group please lemmeno.
Come to the Friday night meet at 595 and University (the Tower shops). First time was good and this time should be even better.

What time on friday night, and can you give me an exact address? I live in the Coral Gables area and that sounds like a hike, but I still think it would be great. I am at about 500 miles and 600 is rapidly approaching. My dealer told me that they don't have to remove the gas tank to do the Valve adjustment, which makes me very skeptical, so I would rather do it myself. Thanks for the response!

Okay guys here we go.......as it stands we are doing this as follows:
Saturday, March 13 beginning at 10:00 am at Metzmaulers house in western Pembroke Pines. We're gonna use my bike since I live close to him and it'll minimize cooling time. We'll grill some burgers for some lunch grub. We're asking everone to chip in for the food and we need a volunteer to do the grilling.
Metzmauler will be posting directions in the next day or two. For those who haven't spoke up yet, now is the time to let us know your coming if you haven't already. Remember that the total job is 4-6 hours so plan on a day full of fun, info, and possibly we can ride after we're done?!

Thanks for organizing this!!!
However, I won't be able to attend. We're in a slow-motion move to Miami from Austin. I came here in October and my wife and daughter are in Austin (didn't want to move my daughter during the school year). I just found out my wife will arrive this Thursday and leave the following Tuesday, for house hunting. Thus my weekend will be with her. Not bad, since I haven't seen her since Christmas.
Sorry about bailing, guys. Any other weekend and I'd be there (BTW, bach'ing it in a 1-bedroom apartment sucks).
