Well, I managed to mess up the threads in one of the bolt holes in my new CP 1.5" bars last night. The holes in the risers and the holes in the top clamp don't line up very well and I of course had to try and force it. Anybody in the South Metro that could help me out? I don't have a tap nor do I have any experience using one.

Hmmm....I don't think I have the right size. Do you know what size thread it is?

Nope. I'm pretty stupid when it comes to thread sizes & bolt sizes. I'm sure I can get the answer from somebody on the board though.

There are accouple of ways to fix the problem. The first would be to take it to a shop, and let them retap the threads. Skip (BigBoyBike) had this done on a set of trees he had. Not sure where he went, but the guy didn't charge him for it. Your other option would be to go to ACE or any other hardware store, and find the right size bolt in the nuts and bolts area. Right down the diameter and the thread bitch. Should look something like 1/2" - 20 That was the size my Ness apes were...but your CP bars are most likely metric. Anyways, after you get the correct size, have someone show you where the taps are, and see how much a tap would be. You will also need the tool that holds the tap when threading it in the hole. I am guessing the threads aren't too ***ered up, and using the tap will clean them up. Good luck!

I did the same thing to my risers. I cross threaded the left side pretty bad. I couldn't do a tap because the bolt holes are so close to the edge of the riser. Helicoil was my only option, and I had to go with a little smaller of a bolt.

Who put in the Helicoil for you?
