View Full Version : Would You Like To See A New England Forum?

Would anyone be interested in a New England VTX Forum up here? Seems like there is some cross posting of RI/CT and MA, also the northern 3 states are not too far for the occasional ride.
Options would be (as poll says)
"New England", "Southern New England" or "No, it's fine like it is"
I live in MA but am within 10 minutes of RI and 15 minutes of CT, personally I think a New England Forum would be pretty cool.
If there is enough interest we could ask LaMonster to set it up

Sounds like a cool idea to me. It would be a good way to bring VTX'rs together in the region. I take it the nickname would be NEVTX (any VTX)?
I know I would look forward to the RI and CT rides as well as the occassional northern NE ride (VT, NH, ME). I am also about 10 minutes from RI and maybe 30-40 from CT, 1 hour from NH and figure 1.5 to either ME or VT.

New England VTX Forum would be cool in my opinion. Hell we ride all over New England as it is - so why not?
I ride from NH to MA everytime I ride to work and VT is just as close for me as MA is.

I leave MA, go through RI and back into MA just to go to the mall! One trip to the mall involves 4 state border crossings!
BTW: This is not intended to impact the more organized MA or CT VTX Riders groups, just another loose place to post ideas, rides, etc. especially show-n-go type rides. I was looking at the RI forum and noticed it only had 2 pages worth of topics and a NE forum came to mind immediately.
I really hope there is enough interest to start a NE forum, I like that much better than separate southern and northern forums. Polls seem to be leaning towards just one but it is early on.

I'd like to see a forum that would include us up north also - been trying to get a NH forum on the site for a little while. It is hard for us way up north to get involved with an organized group down south, it just takes us too damn long to get out of the hicks! I'm about 2 hours north of manchester, but wouldn't mind travelling once I can take the pontoons off my X! I"ve been eyeing the MA board rides and hopefully someday I'll have the time and be able to make it to one of them! It would be a good thing to have a community forum for new england as I know that quite a few of you come north on vacation and it would be a centralized outlet to hook up with people that are intimate with the area. Same would be reversed if we went south for a trip, it might even help us with a place to store our snowmobile suits when we are riding in the warm weather down there!

Thanks btalion, I have gotten mostly good feedback on a NE forum. I have hiked a ton of NH and ME, would like to start getting up there more by bike.
I'll let the polls go for a little while longer, I set them up for 14 days, then I will probably be talking to LaMonster to set up a NE Forum unless I get any real negative feedback.

I hear that Btalon. With Laconia in NH and Americade in such close proximity to VT those of us from other parts of the region could certainly benefit from folks in the area.
I dunno about pontoons. They have us loading our X's on the Ark 2 by 2

Thanks, you know, I didn't realize NH and VT didn't have forums. I think this is gonna be a good thing!

Dave,
Great ride through the tri-state area. Thanks for the heads up!
Who was the guy on the silver Retro? Those were nice pipes.

Yes sir, excellent ride!
That was Don... not sure if he has a handle on NER. Very nice bike, I liked the pipes too. I thought they would be louder (he said they could be... )

So when can we expect to see this new forum get launched? It would appear that there is support from MA, RI, NH, CT. Not sure about ME and VT.

Hey guys interesting thet you should mention this. In the past, We have been approached by members from several states, suggesting that we might convert from MassVTX to NewEngland VTX. As some of the States are not as organized. We do have members already from all the new england states( pretty sure). We have kicked around the idea of just added some individual state forums to ours. We have delayed this mostly due to the fact that we wanted to be sure that we did not run into any space issues on our site on our own, as we are completely privately funded(Bill) and have some what limited space.
Keep in mind, members have always been able to post pickup rides on the massvtx forum, we just ask that people don't post rides that directly compete with the scheduled group rides.
Later...

Hey John!
I was just thinking that all the smaller state boards up here just get so little traffic that if we all got together on one it might increase the volume to a more interesting level.
This doesn't have to compete with MassVTX in any way, it's just sort of a "pick-up" forum and a general place to chat amongst the states.
As for competing with MASS VTX rides, there are rides planned on MASS VTX for most weekend days (a good thing) so it would be hard not to "compete". Thing is, no competition is implied (at least by me) in posting a quick "hey, you gonna be there" or "I'm riding to the Bean, any takers?" kinda thing. I just wanna see more X's on any ride I am on, whether with MassVTX or not.
Looking forward to the Quabbin ride!
Cheers
Dave

A New England forum would be great, just don't forget about us Northerners (NH & VT)!
Granted, I am not is geographically displaced as those in the White Mtns, but it would be cool to hook up with others in our little corner of the country.
There are great trips all over NE that someone knows about, its time to share 'em!

I couldnt agree more Nate. It is a good oportunity to leverage our collective knowledge of the area so all can enjoy.

Absolutely Nate, NH is one of my favorite places, have hiked much of it and ME and get up there every chance I get. Mostly where the tourists aren't though! :)
Thanks for the post, I will see what I can do.

I don't care who you are thats funny - never heard myself described like that before! ROFLMAO. We actually like to call it living above the stress line, kinda like key west, with no ocean, no sun, no warmth, just like it but different, see?

I like the 'living above the stress line' bit. If there were tech jobs up there, I would be up there in a heartbeat. I'm a little closer to the Mass and CT riders than all of you up north, but IMO you've got much nicer rides available.

And besides, I've been all over this great country and I'm thinking that we manufacture some of the best damn Potholes in the world! They are second to none - lol
