Hey Jason where you been? Just haven't seen you on the board lately and wanted to make sure you were still kicking
Been getting any ride time between the sheetrock?

Hmmm, motorcycle. I vaguely remember what that was. Something with two wheels isn't it???
The entryway, hallway, half bath and two closets turned out pretty nice. This is only the 2nd time I've ever done sheetrock. This time I bought and learned how to use a banjo, and so the taping was VASTLY improved. I also read up on skim coats so I tried doing a skim coat over the entire surface as my last step, and that really helped too. My wife wants smooth finish walls - naturally as they're the hardest to do. The skim coat solved the problem of the texture difference between mud and raw sheetrock showing through the paint. In the right light you can still see plenty of mistakes but it's good enough for now. And much better than the painted-over panelling we're replacing.
About 2 weeks ago we took in two foster boys (great nephews) with literally about 2 hours notice. So now we have 4 boys running amok around the house. I get worn out just chasing after them all. They came with 9 weekly appointments / scheduled phone calls plus 2 different monthly visits. My wife and I both work full time so our schedules are very full now. I used to think two kids kept you busy!
I've gotten in two rides since we got the boys. But the boys are worth it.
But all is not lost! GnA and possibly CTVTX04 and two others will be here next Thursday. I've already scheduled Thursday afternoon off so I can do lunch and give em a tour of Squarebanks. I'm thinking of heading up towards Livengood, I hear there's a long section of new pavement up that way. Friday we'll take off on a 1,000 mile tour around the state!
I got new tires, progressive front springs and some Kuryakyn offset peg mounts from HDL's big sale. I'm sure I can find lots of helpful little hands to help me work on my bike. As long as I don't mind fingerprints!
There's still time to sign up for the Fairbanks - Tok - Anchorage rally!

Sounds like your keeping yourself pretty darn busy. Family always comes before riding at my house also. However, I don't have as many honey do's as you. Now work is another subject altogether. We have a couple of other managers out so guesse who takes up the slack. Someones got to be there to run the store.
When are you all getting into Anchorage? I would still like to get some riding time in while your here :D I think Al was talking about a BBQ wasn't he?
AKJason
06-03-2005, 03:04 PM
Yeah, Al was talking smack about a big BBQ, moose and salmon, show us all a good time, blah blah blah and THEN he invented some lame excuse about being in another town that weekend!   (Just kidding Al)
Originally we were thinking the 'rally' group could roll into Anchorage and have a BBQ but alas our host is gone. I suppose if I was a good organizer and all I'd figure out which restaurant to hang out at instead. Any suggestions? It's a tentative deal, because GnA have to return their rental BMW and catch an evening flight. Scott et al were hopefully going to join us, but that depends on them making the 4,500 mile drive on schedule. So the group could be as small as my 12 year old son and myself.
We don't have a specific time into Anchorage. We're spending the night in Glennallen Friday night. If we shoot straight into town at VTX velocities then we'd be there quite early. On the other hand the group might decide it would be fun to shoot to Valdez and back first, or check out some other side trip. If we have a BBQ to head to I'm sure I could fix the schedule.
It won't be my last trip to Anchorage if I have anything to say about it. I've been talking smack about riding down there for the last two summers. Time to own up.

There are a couple of good places to go to. I guess the question is if you want them to be a
tourist trap or a biker bar
If nothing else we could BBQ at my place. I don't have Salmon or Moose but could come up with good old American hamburgers, hot dogs Etc.
Is that the 18th your talking about?
AKJason

Yep, evening of the 18th. Or late afternoon, however we want to arrange it. If you want to host a BBQ that'd be great!

Yes, that's the place. We were going to meet Jason in Fairbanks around lunch time. So whatever time it takes to get there from the GB Cabins. I'd like to get on the road no later than 10 AM, if possible. Would that work for you? Are you staying up in Fairbanks Thursday night?
We are staying at the Grand View B&B, Thurs, night (6/16).... small place with good referrals... we're looking forward to it! Then the Caribou Inn in Glennallen on Friday night, heading back to Anchorage on Sat. Our flight leaves for Denver late Saturday night (6/18) ..... :D

Hi All,
Leon (HILF) and I (CTVTX04) are actually leaving on the 9th from Americade in Lake George, NY. Sorry if there was confusion on the dates Jason. We plan to arrive in Fairbanks around the 18th or 19th. I hope we can still meet some of you and get in a ride, or least have a drink and a meal. Our plans are very loose, so we're up for anything!
Hope to see you all soon!

Hi Scott,
Drive fast! Look for a BMW and two VTX's heading south if you get to AK by the 17th...
Otherwise, I'll be back in town on the 19th. Give me a call Sunday night if I don't see you sooner.

Great, we'll see you there!. If you decide you want one of the rooms at the Caribou Inn in Glennallen, call them by Weds afternoon and grab one of the reservations under "Ofiesh". I be calling them Weds evening to cancel the unused ones. My number is 303-522-6525, if you need to reach me. I don't know where, when, if, I'll have a signal... but we'll be at the Grizzly Bear Cabins office at 10 AM Thurs morning. See you then... :D
