Just want to let you all know about the marvelous work that Sturgis Thunder Pipe Works performed on my VTX exhaust system. I now am the talk of the town. I got the work done right before Mrytle's Bike Week. I had one of, if not the louder bikes at the Beach. They turned my STOCK pipes into THUNDER Pipes with adjustable baffles. The serivce is excellent and the price beats any and all competitors. It turned into a wonderful investment and I am completely satisfied. If you're in the market for an exhaust sytem check out Sturgis Thunder Pipe Works. They've proven to be the Best.

So visit Sturgis... at www.sturgisthunderpipeworks.com (http://www.sturgisthunderpipeworks.com). For more detail you can contact me.

Thanks!

Mistermanie are you affiliated in any way to SturgisThunderPipes company? And was your bike a 1800 or 1300? I'm looking for mods to my 1300c and have been looking at the two big VTX rebuilders I've seen in the threads. Did you get the adjusted baffle system - if, so how well does it actually work? Your input is appreciated.
Thanks!

Yes, I am interested too. How come the 1300 costs more?

The 1300's are all dual mufflers - more to rebuild than the single pipe 1800. Doesn't seem right, does it? :)

SanAntoneRider,
After reading Mistermanie's post I can understand why one might be supicious of his "extreme excitement"---I assure you, Mistermanie is in no way affiliated with Sturgis Thunder Pipe Works.....we have no need to fabricate testimonials--check our new "testimonials" page on our website, and not to boast, we;'ve got a bunch of them that are not posted to the site yet.
In regard to your curiousity concerning our prices and the comparison between the 1800C single pipe and the 1300 dual pipes -- we mod roughly 10 different models now and except for the Goldwing and Valkyrie, surprisingly, they all take pretty much the same amount of time----all the pipes are simular in basic design but yet at the same time, they are also different--some very different.....also, please keep in mind that every businessman, when pricing his goods, has to take his competitors pricing in consideration.
We have several customers that are willing and happy to share their experience with Sturgis Thunder Pipe Works -- I will list 2 of them below:

Rich Reynolds (1300R) contact Rich at: trrjr@bellsouth.net

Danny Delong (DANX) (1300R) contact Danny at: dd40045@alltel.net

I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

Hello Cycleman,
I was kidding about the duals costing more - of course they do. But I sent an email out to Thunder with these questions that you can probably answer. I'd appreciate it. I like the design concept very much. Here's the email questions:
I'm looking for 1300C options that you offer.
1. Do you offer the adjusted baffles for the 1300C - if so, what is the additional cost?
2. Can you do straight cuts on the 1300C - if so, is the cut made where the removeable tips attach to the mufflers? What is the cost for cutting the two pipes?
3. If time is not an isue, can you ensure that the mufflers I send in are the same ones I get back - the bike and pipes are new and I want to keep it that way for now.

Any sound bites of a 1300C??

Thanks for all of the info!

Hi Guy,

As I was preparing a reply to your email, when a new customer (rddiehl) brought this thread to my attention, please pardon my not recognizing you here and the short delay in email reply -- I'll do my best to answer your questions:
--In regard to "baffles available for the VTX 1300" -- we make and offer the same baffle system for all our pipe mods -- the primary (red colored baffle in center of pipe -- see at our website on baffle adjustments page) is included w/ our mod -- the optional secondary baffle (or restrictor plate) (yellow in color - in front of primary) works togeather w/ the primary to provide a nice, clean, deep toned cadance.
--In regard to offering our "straight cut duals" for the 1300 - we can provide that but (and the reason we don't advertise it) is the 1300 main shield is designed differently than the 1800 -- the 1300 shield has a "ledge" on the back end that the tip fits over (I'll email ya a pic) to achieve a finished look we would have to cut the "ledge" off -- dress up the edge and coat the raw edge w/ "high heat" silver -- the finished product looks very professional (is very hard to tell from the "1800 chrome edge) and we have performed this treatment of raw edges on our own "custom" R&D pipes -- we have had painted chrome edges in service thru rain and shine and have not experienced any problems w/ the chrome finish but we cannot warranty for any possible problems w/ this treatment (rust, etc.).
--In regard to pricing -- add $40 to the cost of the mod ($255 + $40 = $285 + $75 for secondary if desired + $40 freight).
--We can and will insure that you will get the same pipes back that you send to us.
Thanks for your interest Guy and please feel free to get back w/ me w/ any other questions.

Regards,

John Miller

Thanks for the quick reply - you answered my questions.
I'm headed out of town for 8days right now, but I'll ship the mufflers when I return - I'll keep the stock cut. Look forward to doing business!

I'm interested in these pipes, but I have a question. In looking at the offerings in services, they do a pipe turn out for the 1800. Can they do a two into one conversion from a stock 1300 C pipe with a side turn out. The answer is yes I did originally want an HK sideburner two into one, but if a less expensive option I'm all for it! I sent an email to them already and I figured a post wouldn't hurt.
