I signed up tonite for the Loop contest but it probably won't show up on the page for voting until tomorrow. I will post the link when it is available. I need to start campaigning for some votes.
If I win, I will throw a party at Doyle's. :beer3: :pepper1: :eat2: :beer2:
Maybe that will get a few votes.

There is definitely something unusual going on with the bike that is winning. There are bikes that have been on the brag for a week longer than the indian and have aroun 3K votes. This chump has 18K and Pete's votes went from around 800 to almost 2K in a couple hours once he took over first place and his average dropped almost 2 full points. It appears from the very cursory testing I just did that it adds an expiring temporary cookie to your browser. If you delete the cookies from your browser you can vote again. It would be very simple to write a script that submits the voting link the deletes all temp internet files, then submits the link again in repitition ... not that I would advocate such a thing ... maybe that is how the current leader has 18K votes when everyone else has 2-3K.
Verrice
06-24-2005, 11:48 AM
You could, in fact just deny the cookie, and that would allow you to keep voting without requiring you to delete it after each action. My guess is that's what our Indian friend is doing... hopefully someone at the loop will recognize that and disqualify them.

I need some help in the final hours of the July Biker Brag Contest. According to the rules, they close the voting at 4pm Wednesday 7/27. This Harley guy is accumulating votes faster than I can with 3 computers going. :badabing: Anyway, I could use your votes if you have time.
I am not advocating voting more than once, but if you wanted to, you need to block the Loop website from using cookies.
You go to Tools, Internet Options..., Select "Privacy" Tab, at the bottom, select "Edit" (Web Sites), type in wlup.com and select "Block". This will allow you to vote more than once repeatedly.
Again, this is just in case you were wondering how to.
The Harley went up about 10K votes over night.
See you in Marysville. Beers on me if I win. :beer3: :beer2: :pepper1:
Thanks for all the help.

If you look closely at the site, they already declared the July winner and it was not Pistol!!!! I don't see how this is possible when he had a comfortable lead of 7.9 (average) to 7.7 for the next runner up when I voted many times yesterday afternoon. I don't recall seeing the bike that won in the top 5 yesterday afternoon either. Looks like we need a RECOUNT....

Is it possible that WLUP was checking the voting, and noticed the number of votes being tallyed in the last 24 hours with whatere they were coming from and they disqualified a few entrants, ie Pete?
Verrice
07-27-2005, 08:58 PM
The only reason I'm thinking that isn't the case is because June's winner was a big time cheater and had thousands of votes an hour.
They should really make peope register, with verified email or something, in order to vote... really cut down on all this confusion and unfair advantages.

We could be mean and throw it REALLY off by voting a 23 or some other odd number that is really high to really skew the results. They may look at the process and re-count knowing that the system could be fooled with.

Hey guys,
I am at the homecoming and haven't been on line since we left on Wednesday. I got a kick out of this thread and the "loop"holes you found in their contest.
I don't know what happened with my bike. The guy that won had only been on a couple days and had about 300 votes on Tuesday night. They stopped the contest early because Ashli noticed the winner was announced early in the afternoon even though it was supposed to run until 4pm.
It was fun while it lasted though - seeing the score run up and the HD fall to the back of the pack. I am sure there will still be an occassion to drink beers at Doyle's.

Here it is
I have been watching the running of the Biker Brag contest on your website. I must admit that I feel your contests are not being run fairly. Currently the leading vote getter has an average score of 11.9. The highest rating available is a 10. This bike has averaged over 10 since last week.
The June winner received 50000 votes in the last hour of competition. In last months contest you pulled a bike from competition on the last day with no explaination given. It looks to me that you haverules only for some bikes and others can cheat the system wiith no recourse. I will never listen to your radio station again and will go out of my way to avoid purchasing from your advertisers. I will be sending copies of this e-mail to as many of your advertisers as I can. This contest is a crock. But I guess rigged elections are the norm in Chicago.

David,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We suspected that some
manipulation was going on, and we removed the bikes in question.
However, we have noticed that the scope has gone beyond that, and as
such, we are removing the contest. It is not fair to the contestants
that were honest, and this is not how we like to run things. Some
person(s) took a lot of time to hack/rig the contest, and it is coming
down shortly.
Thanks again for bringing this to our attention, and I apologize for any
frustration this may have caused.
