Did my first Iron Butt Friday. Evansville, WI to Madison, S. D. and back. Interstate Highways the whole way. 1025 miles in 17 hours 15 minutes. Could not have done it without the following three things. 1. Ultimate Lowrider with drivers backrest. 2. Kury highway pegs. 3. Madco throttle lock. My C averaged 36.5 MPG, filled up 9 times. Next time I think I will do a circular route. Just to see some different country.

Yes, I went solo. I have several buddies who want to sanction an iron butt be we all drive different bikes and refuel intervals would be different as well. So we are doing them alone, I just went first! Now they say they want to beat me--- boys. it is not a race.

I guess it can take 2-3 months for IBA to verify your miles. Is that correct ?

balou,
It took them less than three weeks to certify my ride. They notified me by
email first. Then I got my package in the mail about two to three weeks
later. But it did take over three months to see my ride registered on their
website.
As for a membership number, you will get that with your package as well as
a password associated with your email address so you can order
merchandise on their website.

jwhok, where did you do your Sore Saddle run?
We're considering a group run south on I-26 and turning north on I-95 through SC. But, we don't know the condition of these roads.
What can you tell us?

We went from Anderson, SC on I-85 north to I-95 and continued to
Baltimore. Ate breakfast and turned around. Mileage on that run was 1181
and took us 21 hours. Road conditions were fine. Rain for about 200 miles
in the middle of the night. We left at 10 PM on a Friday night and finished at
7 PM Saturday evening. With two 1800's with me, we stoped about every
120 to 130 miles for gas. That figures to be about 2 hours average between
stops.
For piling up the miles, split highway is the way to go. Also the best
chance of finding gas in the wee hours of the morning.
If you guys set up a ride and head this way, let me know and we can have
help available if necessary.
