I just ordered a set of progressive front fork springs from HDL and was wondering if there was anyone in the GB, Appleton or so area that's installed these that would want to help a noobie out with the procedure?

Thanks,
Wade

LOL! You will learn to speak "Skinnyeeze" if you hang around long enough. Skinny was volunteering Smoken' Joe to head up and give you a hand since he recently lost his job due to cutbacks.....

Who ME :?:
Not a bad ride up. Lets find the tool and see what's happening. You do need a lift also.

Going for a interview this morning. Lets see what happens. :D

Wade,
How's it feel to be a noobie again? :)

No, I don't have my 1800 yet, have to wait until I get back from Canada. The Black is at the shop for vacation checkup/7000 service.

Good luck on the fork job!

But Joe, I do have a lift, basically every tool we could need except for that custome tool you made for the process. I've done quite a bit of wrenching on other bikes, but for some reason, taking the forks apart is freakin' me out. I know it'd be quite a trip for you, if you want to, that'd be great, or if you want to give me a hollar maybe you could walk me through it too. How necessary is the tool? I assume it's the same as the one on Bare's site?

NNora, being a noobie sucks! I feel like such an idiot on this site, it's good to go back to the VR once in a while so I can raise my morale a bit and help someone else out. I just posted complete details on the clutch replacement for AKVolDaddy, and let me tell you, although it was a long type, it felt good to feel like I knew something again! I'm learning here, everyone is pretty good about helping. Of course you can see the site operates the same as the VR, so the search function is just as robust  Good luck on the new bike, I wish I wouldve known about your dealer as I'd have loved to get an orange one. Oh well, paint anyway this winter. Go Pack!

Yes the tool is very nessasary. This is really a straight foward deal. Follow the instructions step by step and a piece of cake. You don't accually take the forks apart, just the top caps and whats inside is not that bad. You have to check with Acrotech, I think he has the tool.
If you do it by the service man. it's a lot more work.
Follow Bares instructions and have at it. If you would like I can get you my cell # and if you run into a problem, call.

LOL! :D Just yankin' yer chain. Acrotech (Mike) is a member and he graciously lends us part of his shop (Acrotech Industries) for our tech sessions. The shop is located in Crystal Lake, IL and during week, Mike is usually in Milwaukee at their other location. Clear as mud?

Hope you sent it to Acrotech and not to the other name you had. He's heading for Colorado this week so give him a PM or post about the tool.

Acrotech (Mike) just got home from Colorado yesterday .... we had Skinny and Kerrys' funeral  .....sorry you had to buy the tool....I've been reading the posts, sounds like they were good people that were well respected on the site. It's too bad that kind of thing has to happen to good people.

I sent Mike the PM on June 22nd, it was opened and read the next day, he's been on several times that I've seen since but I never got a reply. So I just went ahead and bought the tool myself as I really want to get these done before the riding season is over. Of course the tool is on backorder from Honda so I'm still waiting anyway, go figure!

Ride safe and thanks for the reply,
Wade
