Hey All,

A few of us are planning a trip through Grand Teton and Yellowstone for the beginning of August and were wondering if there is anyone who is very familiar with the western side of the state who wouldn't mind letting us pick your brain about the area, and the best way to get around/what to do??? I'd like to talk to someone, if at all possible. This really helped a lot for our recent Alaska trip.... so if you would post a response, call or email me with contact information, we'd appreciate your help.

Thanks,

George

Hey, George,
LadyAce here, remember me from the first Coloradical? I live in southwest Utah but I am from Wyo. and the hubby, Onfyr works in the state. We are leaving next week on a trip with a bunch of fellow workers, oil field trash, hah! and will be going through Yellowstone. We will be back the end of July so could contact you then and let you know what we ran into. I do know we were planning on going up Beartooth pass in Montana but the road is closed due to massive mudslides. Haven't heard of any problems in the park tho.

Yes, I remember you!!!! Please let me know what the "must do's" are. We are planning to spend three nights at Teton and Yellowstone (that's actually a lot of time for me). I was hoping to get some tips on where to stay.... we'd like to find a couple of small cabins just north of Jackson. I've seen a lot of websites, but I was hoping someone familiar with the area could clue us in on the places the locals like....

Have a great trip!!!!!! :D

This road is a must. If you you are heading West along the northern part of the state, instead of heading into Cody, head north to Red Lodge in Montana. Then west from there across the Bearthooth Highway and Pass. You will hit about 11,000 feet then drop down to the NE entrance to Yellowstone. It is a must.

You might want to check out this site. Beartooth pass had some devastating mud slides this spring and is going to be closed for some time as you can see.

np.... we're not heading that far north anyway (this time). But, that picture sure looks a lot like Trail Ridge Road in RMNP.

We're going to stay in Jackson for 2 days, then head over to Cody, Sheridan and back down through Casper..... should be a fun trip!
