I've been running some Hard Krome 3" big straights with no baffles. I'm happy with the sound at idle, but when i get on it, it seems a little High Pitch for me. Does anyone else have this problem? I ordered some Vance and Hines BIG SHOTS and i'm hoping this will solve my problem. I'm looking for a deep throaty sound. I want it to sound as close to a harley that it could possibly sound. Thought? Comments?? Thanks.

I had Big Shots on my 1800/S, loved the sound, didn't like the look. I got the HK 3" Big Straights, I also think they are a bit "tinny" at times, but changing was strictly a "look" thing for me. The Big Shots definitely have a nice, deep pitch to them.

I have HK Xcellerators on my "C", my Buddy has V&H Big shots with the baffles in on his "C". His definitely sound deeper, but mine are loud as hell and sound better, IMHO. Although I have not heard his without the baffles.
As for looks, HK 3" Big Straights are best look'in pipes made for R, S, and N models. Just my 2 cents.

I can't imagine riding long distance with the loud pipes. My v&h are too loud for me, mainly because I have to turn up the radio so loud I am half deaf when finished for the day.

I love my V and H Big shots, except for the look. I also find it kind of hard to find saddle bags that fit correctly without me having to modify them due to the high position of the top pipe. Awesome sound though. I just wish I would have researched them more before I bought them.

Just ordered a set for my 1800R. Am I correct in reading that the V&H ride higher than the stock pipes? I know there's a problem with them touching the floorboards (and I've seen a fix somewhere on this site) but hadn't heard about this. I've got the Honda hard bags so there may not be a problem, but then again...

My V & H bigshots don't interfere with anything and sound so much better than stock its just silly. I don't see how they sit higher either, as they are obviously lower than the stock set was as evidenced by my Saddlemen bags now looking totally wrong on the bike. I am resetting them, and that will require making new holes in the bag's gear so they sit correctly. But the pipes have been perfect for me, and my dad can't hear his new Harley running when we ride together, when before he'd give me crap to see if my bike was on. Ahh, sweet revenge.

My new Cobra passenger boards will also work now that I have the new pipes, whereas the stock ones would have given some trouble being soooo close to the pipes then.

I have these pipes installed on my 2004 1300 C with a DynoJet-jet kit....The throttle response is much better, and the bike pulls much harder. I actually did not expect this much of a difference. I love these pipes...also the sound is amazing...I ride with a friend that has a Harley, running Cobra slips ons (no baffles) and he says that he wishes his bike sounded as mean as mine. (:  He said that since the VTX idles more smoothly without that typical Harley "lope"...and when I rev this suckker up...it is equal to a badass small block with a non-restrictive exhaust. (I'll take that) (: I have been running them for one season, and put 9000 miles on them in that time...no chrome issues, or discoloring (blueing)..etc. I will buy V&H from now on. Hope this helps.

Thanks,

~AA
