Removing Stock Risers from 1300 Retro

Hello to the group as a whole. I live in Ft. Myers and I have a Red 1300 Retro. Just received the Aeromach Risers. I feel this should be a simple job but I am dinging the stock risers and I don't like to be heavy handed with modsand repairs.

I am having a problem getting the top four bolt covers off. A small screwdriver to pry them up doesn't budge them and only dings the riser. Needle nose piers won't fit because the clearance is too small.

Does anyone have simple way to get the caps off so I can remove the bolts that hold the bars to the stock risers :?:

Put tape on the risers to keep from scratching them A thin blade will pop them off, I use a pocket knife
