Gosh its been an interesting week. I've gone from knowing of no X'rs in Durham to meeting 2 this week and having a neighbor move in who owns a 1300R.
And now NC-Xman pm's me about a Meet and Greet. Well I think its a great idea for all of us in the Raleigh/Durham and surrounding areas to get together for and Meet, Greet, and Ride.
We've picked August 6 for the date. As for the place we're still up in the air. This is primarilly dependent on who all is interested and what area is most convient.
My thought is that we could get together for breakfast go for a long ride and return that afternoon or evening. Nothing is set in stone though. So if you have any ideas let us know.
Be sure to check the poll.
( I like distance riding and a good all day trip could be a rid to Pilot mountain, wilmington, Myrtle beach etc)
Or we can meet in Durham at Texas Roadhouse steakhouse one night to discuss it -great food :D
Now who all is interested in a meet and greet?

I'll come up from Fayetteville for this. Is Aug 6th set in stone?

Yep the date is set in stone.... Just remember even stones can be broken :o
A lot of it depends on who all is interested and what the most convient. Plus that gives us time to work out the details for the place and the ride.

No problem, 6th is good. I usually ride up that way on Sunday mornings to go to Mikes B+G in Chapel Hill for B-Fast and coffee. That would be a good place to meet if you wanted to do it on Sunday the 7th. They are already set to have a large amount of bikes and people come there. They do it every Sunday. I'll just meet up with you all on Saturday that weekend.

I have no problem riding 200-300 miles but remember some of us may be coming from 50-75 miles away. I would being riding about 130 just to get there & back maybe you could get an idea how many would be coming from a distance before you plan the ride. Just a suggestion. Joe

All of thats being taken into consideration. Its one of the reason we posted this early, so we could get a feel for whose coming and try to plan the ride around that. Perhaps we can plan a ride that will take us through and around some of the places people have come from so they wont have such a rlong ride home.
Basically everything is subject to development except the date at this point.

I am interested. I am just down the road and ride to Durham often via 751. We could ride to Asheboro and ride Uwharrie then head south towards Southern Pines or north towards Greensboro and back. Just a thought.

I would think I can scare up a couple of guys to do this too. Figure it out, and we'll try to make it. Also, maybe we can meet up with some of the guys coming up from the East. How about it ridged43?

I've worked in Raleigh, and maybe it's not bad on the weekends, but I usually avoid anywhere close to the RTP in a cage. Too bad there's not much interest around the I-95 corridor. :(

Traffic can get nasty on weekends, too... the tie-ups just shift from RTP to the local shopping malls  . We should be able to come up with a meeting place away from the traffic. So far, I've seen the following folks show interest:
Dezzy7 (Durham)
NC-Xman (Cary)
mdalton912 (Fayetteville)
SmoothXMan (Coats)
wolfman (Burlington)
ridged43 (2 1/2 hours east of Raleigh)
Killerjoke (??, NC)
Revvtx (Apex)
DitchWitch (Goldsboro)
Bo Bo (Rocky Mount)
Looks like most folks are coming from the Triangle area south and east. Maybe meet somewhere east of Raleigh and plan our ride down east toward the coast?

Smithfield seems to be a little more central for thos folks who might want to come from the coast. If you guys want to get a lunch or something organized in that area, I can surely take some time to help get it organized. Keep the thread going, I'm watching. :)

Sounds like fun. I haven't had much opportunity to do much riding this summer, so I've been itching to get out on the road.

Well, guys, it looks like I'm gonna have to work this Saturday. I really feel bad since dezzy7 and I were the ones to originally start the idea of a meet and greet. I hope you guys can still get together. Somebody mentioned that Smithfield may be a good central location. In an effort to try and keep the thread going, maybe you could meet at Wal Mart in Smithfield?

I'd hate for this not to happen. Anyone else interested? Are those that voiced interest are you still? It's not to late to get this going. Does anybody know a good location to meet?

Well....it's Wednesday and this thing seems to have stalled out. Are we going to try for a M & G on August 6th? It sounds like Raleigh is the most central area for those who have responded so far. What about a lunchtime meet & eat and then a ride somewhere.....or breakfast, if folks want to get up that early.
Or....should we just re-schedule it for sometime later?
Anybody awake?

Well I am very interested, Unfortunatly I can't do it this weekend due to reasons beyond my control. So if anyone is up for another date or ride (if this one still happens) i'm game 8) .

I'm definitely up for the ride... since no one seems to have taken this any further... please allow me to give a push in the forward direction...
How about meeting at 10:00am in the parking lot at Brier Creek Shopping Center, Raleigh... Directly between Dicks Sporting Goods and Bob Evans Restaurant... This shopping center is located off of Hwy 70 in Raleigh approx 1/4 west of the I-540 interchange.... The address for Dicks Sporting Goods is...
Brier Creek Commons
8021 Brier Creek Parkway
Raleigh, NC 27617
The link below should take you to a web page for this store... there is a link on the page to retrieve a map...

Has the Saturday meet & greet in Raleigh died? It seems like almost everyone initially showing interest is now indicating that they can't make it. It it happens, who all is planning on coming? Do we need to re-schedule?
mdalton912

I think it will have to be rescheduled. Only a couple left who had any interest. I will be watching to see what happens.

Yeah, let's try to get together some other time. Seems like no one has any interest left, and since it took so long to figure this out, I went ahead and cancelled my babysitter for the weekend.

I'm still planning on riding out to Bob Evans (Across from Dicks) in the morning... if for nothing else than to see who shows up.... There may be some folks who are reading the board but not posting to it....
If the meet washes out, I'm off to the Honda Stealer to order my lightbar... one way or another.... I'm riding tomorrow... :D

I forgot to mention... If you all want to reschedule, count me in...
