I am planning for a July 1000 mile/24 hour (Bun-Burner)from Atlanta to Minnesapolis starting July 20th. 1279 miles according to Map Quest and Rand McNalley. The thing I am worried about is finding late night gas in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. If I am any where on schedule it will be between 1 and 4 in the morning when I am passing throught these areas. I have tried to find 24 hour fuels location on the routs I have planned and can't find any. I am planning a carrying a plastic 2 gallon can strapped to the T-Bags and on top of the saddlebags. Does any one know where to find a list of 24 hour gas stops on the intestate systems or a better way to carry the extra fuel? I can hardly wait for the after market to come out with an over-drive 6th gear for the X. That would be worth it's weight in gold.

Well I did complete the trip as planned. I had no problems finding fuel although I did cut it close once on the way back. From Tomah Wi. to Beloit. She started to sputter at 147 mi. Took 5.0 gal. to fill up. This was on the way home. On the top end of the first IB leg I got a suprise birthday present from my sister and brother in law...a PCIII. I am running stock execpt for Riley's exhaust mod. Had the chance to have the PCIII set up and dyno's in Mpls. The milage dropped from 36 to 30mpg but the performance trade off was worth it. I sent all my documentation in to the IBA the first part of August. Does anybody know how long it takes them to sertify the run?

I did mine in the Spring last year. Took about three weeks to get an email
saying they had certified my ride. Took about 4 more weeks to get my
certificate and other stuff in the mail. Since more and more people are riding
in the Summer, and the official Iron Butt Ralley is going on as we speak, it
might take a little longer.
Congratulations by the way.
